Overview

WSP USA is seeking a Senior Consultant, Ports and Marine Engineering to join our National Maritime Practice Group. This position can be based out of Irvine, San Diego, or San Francisco, CA; Miami, FL; Portland, OR; Seattle, WA; or Houston, TX. Responsibilities

Provide leadership for engineering tasks including collecting, compiling, and analyzing data from the field, survey data, technical reports and drawings, and other data for project development, design, and construction. Lead development of construction plans and schedules, specifications, and cost estimates for ports and marine projects. Prepare and implement site safety activity plans and coordinate field work activities. Lead cross-functional teams to execute project work on mid-level projects and/or multiple concurrent smaller projects, collaborating with other engineers and multi-disciplinary teams on Federal, State, regional, and locally funded projects. Track budgets and milestone progress; support completion of PS&E submissions. Write technical reports and documentation of findings using sketches, calculations, spreadsheets, technical drawings, and engineering software (including SAP2000 and similar FEM tools). Apply higher-order engineering techniques to develop project design requirements, incorporating marine-practice engineering standards and specifications; identify site-related risks and provide mitigation solutions. Create finite element models for design of fixed and floating marine structures under gravity, live, environmental, and seismic loads. Prepare design documentation for structural components including steel and concrete (cast-in-place and precast/prestressed) deep foundation systems and substructure/superstructure elements. Prepare project task budgets and schedules for review; prepare and present findings and recommendations to internal teams and clients. Interact with regulatory agencies, subcontractors, and clients in a professional manner. Conduct overwater and/or over-deck inspections of port terminals and visually assess condition of elements. Maintain ethical decision-making regarding company funds and resources in line with WSP’s Code of Conduct and policies. Complete required trainings and perform additional duties as needed by business requirements. Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program. 5 to 7 years of relevant experience in marine project design, including rehabilitation and new design. EIT or similar certification/licensure. Proficiency in analysis and design of marine projects, including SAP2000 or equivalent FEM tools; design and detailing of reinforced and prestressed concrete and steel components per ACI, AISC, PCI, and/or AASHTO. Experience with AutoCAD and REVIT and other BIM tools. Demonstrated construction experience in ports and marine-related projects. Understanding of multidisciplinary team coordination and design/construction document preparation, with knowledge of agency standards. Strong interpersonal and communication skills; proficient technical report writing. Ability to lead with attention to detail, manage multiple tasks, and work independently or within a team. Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to health, safety, and harassment policies. Occasional travel may be required; ability to work schedules that may extend beyond the typical workweek. Preferred Qualifications

Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering from ABET-accredited program with 7+ years of post-education design experience in ports and marine structures. Registered Professional Engineer licensure preferred. Familiarity with domestic and international marine terminal codes and DoD criteria. Experience with LSDYNA and related engineering software. Active participation in professional practice organizations. Experience with marine, port, and coastal construction laws, codes, regulations, and compliance practices. Field investigation and/or construction support experience for port and marine structures. Optionally, a commercial dive license (ADCI or DCBC) for additional roles. Benefits and Compensation

WSP provides a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, disability, life, retirement savings, paid leave, and paid time off. Compensation: Expected Salary (all locations): $80,000-$120,000. WSP USA reserves the right to adjust the offer based on qualifications and location. About WSP
