Position Summary
The Department of English/Program for Writers at the University of Illinois-Chicago seeks a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Creative Writing (prose fiction). UIC faculty are expected to teach in person on campus. The new colleague will teach courses in Creative Writing and American Literature (as specified) and engage in ongoing research in an area of expertise. Responsibilities Teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels (2-2 load). Mentor and advise students. Provide service to the university. Actively contribute to the intellectual life of the department and the broader campus. Participate in multidisciplinary writing and research in the tradition of the Program for Writers and the English Department. This appointment is represented by UIC United Faculty Local 6456, IFT-AFT, AAUP (UICUF) and covered by the terms of UIC's collective bargaining agreement with UICUF. Qualifications
PhD is preferred, though MFA with suitable experience will be considered; degree must be conferred by time of appointment. At least one book published or under contract is expected, as is a demonstrated record of teaching and mentoring. Application Instructions
