Overview
A top-notch CPA firm is hiring a Tax Manager - Non-Profit to join their tax practice. This role is hybrid, with a preference for candidates located in either Atlanta, GA or Chattanooga, TN. A remote candidate will be considered but must be in EST or CST time zones. What You Will Be Doing
Interact closely with clients to provide innovative tax planning, consulting, and compliance expertise. Review form 990-EZ, 990, and 990-PF for private foundations, public charities, and other nonprofits (approximately 50 percent of the time; will increase as the practice grows). Review corporate, partnership, trust, and/or individual tax returns the remaining time (this workload would decrease as nonprofit work increases). Manage and implement multiple and often complex projects simultaneously, including client communication, review of detailed calculations, data gathering, and coordination of resources. Conduct research and analysis for tax implications of federal and state Unrelated Business Income Tax (UBIT) issues related to nonprofit activities. Manage the preparation of Tax-Exempt Status Reinstatements, including gathering or recreating necessary information and reviewing Form 1023 (Application for Recognition of Exemption Under Section 501(c)(3)). Collaborate with client advisors to provide holistic and comprehensive planning services. Review and conduct research and analysis of a wide range of tax issues. Mentor junior staff members by providing leadership, guidance, and professional development. Serve as a resource for nonprofit financial best practices and help educate staff on nonprofit tax regulations, including annual training for new hires. Develop new business relationships with potential clients and outside advisors to grow the clientele base and foster ongoing opportunities for the Firm. What You Bring
A minimum of 5 years of experience in Public Accounting, including prior work at the manager level. An active CPA or Enrolled Agent (EA) license. 8+ years of experience preparing and reviewing private foundations, public charities, and other nonprofits. Prior experience supervising tax professionals on a project or engagement basis. A strong sense of ownership for delivering responsive client service. Excellent communication and time management skills. Base Salary $116,000-$136,000. Final determination of salary will be based on an evaluation of experience, education, budget, etc. Seniority level
