Position Summary We are seeking an accomplished, results-driven Director of Field Operations to oversee and elevate the standards, efficiency, and effectiveness of our home construction projects nationally. Reporting to the COO, this leader will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing field operations processes, ensuring consistent quality and safety, and driving the successful delivery of homes on time and on budget across all regions.

Key Responsibilities

Lead, mentor, and develop construction leaders to optimize field operations, productivity, and employee engagement across all markets.

Design, implement, and enforce best-in-class field construction processes, ensuring consistency in quality, execution, and safety nationwide.

Partner with Division Presidents and cross-functional stakeholders (Purchasing, Architecture, Warranty, Quality Assurance, etc.) to ensure seamless communication and operational effectiveness.

Monitor project timelines, budgets, and key performance indicators, intervening as necessary to address obstacles and ensure project delivery targets are achieved.

Conduct regular site inspections and audits, ensuring compliance with building codes, company standards, and safety protocols.

Drive a culture of continuous improvement, identifying and implementing innovative solutions, technology, and process enhancements.

Serve as the field operations subject matter expert, providing strategic input during business planning, expansion into new markets, and major process changes.

Recruit, train, and retain top field talent while building a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performing operations culture.

Represent the company with vendors, subcontractors, municipalities, and industry organizations, enhancing our reputation as a builder of choice.

Ensure thorough documentation, reporting, and communication flows up and down the organization.

Support and enforce company values, mission, and customer-first philosophy at all times.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business or related field (required); advanced degree preferred.

10+ years of increasing responsibility in field construction operations, including experience leading multi-state teams for a regional or national production homebuilder.

Demonstrated track record of building and managing highly effective field operations teams across diverse geographies.

Deep expertise in residential construction methodologies, scheduling, budgeting, safety, and quality assurance.

Strong leadership, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Proven ability to drive change, coach teams, and manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.

Willing and able to travel 50% - 60% of the time nationally.

Proficient in construction management software and collaboration tools.
