Role & Schedule
The Ultrasound Technologist is responsible for providing excellent service and creating a tranquil environment to help patients adhere to examination instructions. Schedule:
Monday through Friday from 12 pm to 8 pm or Tuesday through Saturday from 12 pm to 8 pm.
Primary Responsibilities
Identify anatomical orientation on all required images and assure proper file identification on all images
Demonstrate competency performing all diagnostic ultrasound procedures and the operation of all related equipment
Greet patients, obtain history, and enter information in computer system
Scan according to guidelines
Maintain logs; process paperwork for biopsies
Utilize sterile techniques preventing contamination
Maintain quality standards as it relates to HIPAA regulations
Responsible for all clinical aspects of ultrasonography suite; maintain cleanliness of examination rooms; stock necessary medical and radiologic supplies
Assist in the accreditation process for the American College of Radiology (ACR) every three years
Maintain CPR certification
Observe patient vital signs during examination
Provide coverage as needed (e.g., call outs or extended patient schedules)
Provide instruction/mentoring to new hires
Provide a positive patient experience; explain procedures and follow-up steps
Maintain communication with radiologists, physicians, patients and families
Submit images of diagnostic quality; perform quality assurance on images and equipment; demonstrate competency in utilizing systems
Contribute to efficient outpatient operations and maximize modality productivity
Review examinations for technical accuracy and present results to radiologists
Demonstrate teamwork and a collaborative work environment
Meet or exceed deadlines; demonstrate accountability, flexibility and adaptability
Engage in professional growth and maintain certifications, registrations and active CME credits
Acquire and review patient chart data/requisitions to determine correct setup and identify any medical concerns or contraindications
Educate patients regarding procedures and safety
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent
Completion of course in Ultrasonic Technology
RDMS Certification
Breast Ultrasound Experience
2+ years of experience as an Ultrasound Technologist
Demonstrated ability to follow oral and written instructions
Demonstrated ability to communicate with patients, visitors, and employees
Demonstrated ability to use or learn the department's computerized systems
Preferred Qualifications
Associate or Baccalaureate degree in radiography, radiation therapy, or nuclear medicine
2+ years of experience as a General Radiologic Technologist
Physical Demands
Requires standing and walking for extended periods
Ability to lift and carry items up to 50 pounds
Ability to lift patients up to 300 pounds and position them for operation of equipment
Eyesight correctable to 20/20
Compensation & Benefits Pay is based on factors including location, education, experience, and certifications. The hourly pay range for this role is $28.27 to $50.48 per hour for full-time employment. Benefits include a comprehensive package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (eligibility applies).
