The Manager, Facilities Maintenance reports to the Deputy Director, Facilities and is responsible for managing the maintenance and repair of facilities and equipment for the San Mateo County Transit District.
Responsibilities
Manage overall state-of-good repair of facilities and equipment. Liaisewith internal departments on facilities related projects. Plan, implement, and monitor or preventive maintenance program for facilities and equipment. Supervise staff. Hire, mentor and take appropriate corrective and/or disciplinary action. Ensure EEO policies and procedures are followed. Participate in selection of staff. Coordinate staff training and professional development. Establish performance objectives. Monitor and evaluate employee performance. Additional duties
Develop and recommend maintenance procedures, best practices, component replacements, and work-flow improvements. Research and develop technical specifications for materials, supplies, and services. Implement and execute a preventative maintenance program that is compliant with Local, State and Federal regulations. Coordinate technical training to support maintenance practices and new technologies. Oversee Facility Maintenance procurement. Collaborate with other departments in the development and review of contracted services and large procurements. Assist in the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies, procedures, and work standards for the Facility Maintenance Department. Prepare and monitor annual operating budgets, document maintenance activities and cost data; prepare reports, maintain records and issue correspondence. Assign work orders, and monitor staff assignments. Evaluate job performance of staff which also includes the professional development of staff through the identification of on-the-job and other professional development opportunities. Performs all job duties and responsibilities in a safe manner to protect one's self, fellow employees and the public from injury or harm. Promote safety awareness and follow safety procedures in an effort to reduce or eliminate accidents. Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications
Sufficient education, training and experience to demonstrate the knowledge and ability to successfully perform the essential functions of the position. Development of the required knowledge and abilities is typically obtained through but not limited to: Associate degree in business/public administration or related field. Six (6) years of full-time progressive experience in facility maintenance. Two (2) years supervisory experience. Preferred Qualifications
Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel. Effective oral and written communication skills. Proficient in PeopleSoft.
