Job Overview

Associate Director, Strategic Sourcing & Supplier Management, Medical Devices. Owns relationships with suppliers of devices and device-related components used with Gilead branded products, including strategy, selection, risk, and performance management. Responsible for strategic and tactical management of supplier relationships and for indirectly leading and influencing others, bidding, selecting, and managing multiple devices and device-related components. Based in Foster City, CA, with remote work eligible up to 2 days per week under the GFlex program. Primary Responsibilities

Serve as the primary point of contact for business discussions, long-range supply and capacity planning, and business development Manage supplier performance (daily/monthly/annually) Manage day-to-day performance of assigned suppliers; act as escalation point for issue resolution for other functional areas and sites Escalation point for manufacturing operations on recurrent or chronic supplier performance issues Lead annual business review meetings (BRMs) with assigned suppliers as needed Lead assessment and mitigation of supplier risks via regular supplier risk management processes Prepare, review, challenge, and track RFPs/RFQs/RFIs for new business with external suppliers in consultation with functional stakeholders Negotiate Confidentiality Agreements, Master Services Agreements and Work Orders Collaborate with Product and Portfolio Strategy to identify and manage strategic device suppliers aligned with network supply chain strategies Identify and manage strategic direct-material suppliers per Category Management Team strategies Support make-vs-buy analysis Lead and participate in Operational Excellence projects Coordinate/lead internal and supplier meetings; publish meeting minutes Provide leadership and training to other department personnel Develop budgets and report accruals to Finance as needed Contribute to solving high-complexity issues; communicate issues to line management and project teams promptly Support product team needs for supplier selection from development through commercialization Lead and/or support site assessment teams (SATs) in supplier assessment and selection Stay informed of supplier capabilities, offerings, and capacities relevant to Gilead pipeline needs Establish quality and technical execution expectations with suppliers Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure outsourced needs are met Organize and participate in conferences and meetings with global suppliers; track key decisions Preferred Qualifications

10+ years in a pharmaceutical/biotech environment or relevant manufacturing; BA/BS required; MA/MBA considered as 2 years of experience; PhD as 4 years Experience leading outsourced development/manufacturing service providers or direct material suppliers Experience working with medical devices Strong computer skills; experience with ERP and project management software Understanding of CMC development activities for biopharmaceuticals Advanced knowledge of GMPs and 21 CFR parts 11, 210, 211, 820 Ability to lead cross-functional teams Strong negotiation skills for complex agreements Strong verbal and written communication Ability to manage multiple programs/projects; strong organizational skills Ability to present concisely to senior management Ability to work under uncertainty and resolve conflicts constructively Ability to solve highly complex problems through collaboration Ability to work in a fast-paced environment Project management experience or certification a plus Up to 20% domestic/international travel Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree and 10 years’ experience OR Master’s Degree and 8 years’ experience OR PhD and 2 years’ experience People Leader Accountabilities

Salary range: $182,070.00 – $235,620.00. Compensation will reflect experience, qualifications, and location. May be eligible for discretionary annual bonus, stock-based long-term incentives, paid time off, and benefits (medical, dental, vision, life insurance).
