The Chief Perfusionist is a medical professional responsible for knowing and supporting the philosophy, policies and procedures of Aspirus Wausau Hospital and the departments within Surgical Services as they relate to that role. This person will be the Perfusion staff advocate and coordinator for communications between customer contacts including administration, surgeons, anesthesiologists, staff, and patient needs, while maintaining a high level of clinical expertise. They will facilitate appropriate utilization of equipment, supplies, instrumentation and staff resources in the delivery of patient care. The Chief Perfusionist is accountable for evaluation, supervision, leadership, fiscal outcomes, and management of the Perfusion team members. This person is the primary link to Materials Management, physicians and other designated leadership and staff, possessing the core accountabilities and oversight of the competencies of the defined specialties.

Hours:

Full-Time or 1.0 FTE, Monday – Friday 6:30am – 3:00pm, will partake in call rotation

Experience/Qualifications

Knowledge of perfusion standards and practices is normally acquired through graduation from an accredited course in perfusion. A bachelor’s degree in an allied health related field beneficial.

Two or more years’ experience as a Perfusionist beneficial.

Licensure by the State of Wisconsin as a Perfusionist.

Certification by the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion required, or board eligible, within two years of hire.

Current BLS certification or obtained within 90 days of hire. All clinical personnel in identified job codes are required to maintain Basic Life Support (BLS) training through independent study, online manikin and knowledge testing. An acceptable training program is the Basic Life Support (BLS) Health Care Provider course from the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross Professional Rescuer Program with AED.
