Position Summary The Director of Finance will serve as a key member of the executive leadership team, responsible for overseeing the operational functions of the finance and accounting departments while also providing strategic guidance to the CEO and Board of Directors. The Director of Finance will ensure financial stability, and long-term growth of the organization by managing fiscal operations, resource allocation, and leading a high-performing financial team that manages four (4) nonprofit 501(c)(3) organizations.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and implement financial practices, forecasts, and budgets to support organizational growth and sustainability.
Provide data-driven insights to guide decision-making at the executive and board levels.
Oversee preparation of accurate, timely financial statements, and government reports.
Stay updated on relevant laws, regulations and internal reporting requirements.
Cash Flow & Fiscal Management
Manage cash flow to maintain fiscal health and operational efficiency across four (4) entities.
Oversee reserves, and resource allocation.
Risk & Compliance Management
Identify and mitigate financial risks.
Leadership & Team Development
Lead, mentor, and develop the finance and accounting teams, including an accounts payable, account receivable and payroll staff.
Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
Advisory Role
Serve as a strategic advisor to the CEO and Board of Directors.
Provide expert recommendations on financial strategies, technology, and operational priorities to drive organizational growth and innovation.
Act as lead liaison between the finance department and the accounting outsource team.
Qualifications / Education
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field required.
Master's degree, CPA, or CFA designation a plus but not necessary.
Experience
Minimum 3 years of senior leadership experience in finance or management.
Proven track record of financial management, risk management, and organizational leadership
Demonstrate leadership capabilities with the ability to manage and inspire teams.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
Excellent presentation and communication skills for reporting to leadership and board members.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, accounting software (Sage Intacct, Bill.com, QuickBooks), and financial management systems.
