Overview
San Francisco International Airport (SFO) is hiring a Risk and Compliance Manager to join a world class organization. The Risk and Compliance Manager oversees all aspects of the Airport’s comprehensive risk management and compliance programs and manages a staff of Airport employees, contractors and consultants. The position leads the Airport's principal insurance program and collaborates with the City and County of San Francisco Risk Manager's Office to analyze coverage options, limitations, and terms for diverse risks. The role evaluates, manages and mitigates enterprise risk across all functions and divisions and leads the development and enhancement of an Enterprise Risk Management model under ISO 31000, in collaboration with senior management, management and staff across Airport Divisions and stakeholders. Responsibilities
Insurance Programs Management: Work with the City and County of San Francisco Risk Manager’s Office on insurance procurements; monitor and evaluate coverage availability and vendor performance; determine appropriate types of coverage, terms, deductibles, and requirements; ensure airport tenants, permit holders, contractors, and related parties maintain appropriate coverage; plan, direct and coordinate all insurance-related affairs for the Airport. Risk Evaluation: Design systems to identify and address enterprise-wide risks for the department, its employees, and clients; propose organizational, operational, policy, and procedural improvements; interface with the Airport Safety Management Team to align risk efforts across terminal and landside operations. Compliance: Monitor and audit work orders and inter-department agreements regulated by FAA and auditable by OIG; review quarterly billings for proper documentation and eligibility; develop a procedural desk manual for compliance before invoicing; collaborate with Budget to prepare quarterly expenditure reports. Grant and Contract Compliance: Oversee grant reimbursements per CFR and FAR; review construction contracts for grant conformity and asset inventory validation; develop a desk manual for staff and Accounting reference. Digital Transformation: Develop risk management strategies for digital assets and a digital customer experience; coordinate with external digital risk experts and create a Digital Risk Profile for executive management. Guest Safety and Property Risk: Develop and evaluate guest safety programs for mechanical walks and escalators; establish a moving conveyances committee and coordinate safety enhancements and capital improvements; produce executive reports on incidents and mitigation measures; liaise with Airport Legal on claims. Physical Property Risk Evaluation: Conduct rolling risk evaluations of airport buildings; coordinate with Space Planning to request maintenance and capital funding; create a desk manual for Physical Property Risk Evaluation. Risk and Safety Management: Monitor operational safety of tenants and service providers; advise senior management on risks and insurance coverage; assess cybersecurity risks and participate in emergency preparedness planning. Leadership and People Management: Oversee Risk Management staff, manage workloads, coach and develop staff, align work with Airport financial operations and goals. Collaboration and Communication: Engage with diverse stakeholders, participate in Business Continuity planning, and coordinate with City risk management authorities; communicate effectively and lead cross-functional teams. Staff Development and Training: Develop career plans, cross-train staff, manage budgets and performance evaluations, adapt resources to operational needs. Ideal Candidate
