Overview

The City needs you to ensure that all professional electrical engineering work for water systems, and construction work for residential and commercial buildings meet the safety standards. You will perform difficult professional engineering work in reviewing and analyzing electrical designs, plans, and specifications for adequacy and compliance with provisions of the electrical code and departmental standards; and perform other related duties as required. You may need to climb ladders, crawl under structures, and maneuver around construction sites with short periods of exertion to ensure contractors have thoroughly performed all tasks to a high standard. Inspections may occur at construction sites with exposure to hazards such as construction, traffic, chemicals, noise, moving equipment, and electrical hazards such as arc flash. Current Vacancies

Equivalent to graduation from a regionally-accredited four year college or university with a bachelor’s degree in an engineering specialty. Education obtained outside the United States must be comparable to a degree earned at a regionally-accredited college/university in the United States. A foreign credential evaluation (FCE) must be provided to receive credit for foreign education. We reserve the right to request further information about your academic program, evidence of comparability, or an original transcript. One year of registered professional electrical engineering experience. License Requirement

Possession of a valid license as a professional electrical engineer in the State of Hawaii. Applicants with a current out-of-state professional electrical engineer license must obtain their Hawaii license prior to appointment.
