ELECTRICAL ENGINEER IV (EN-24) [1 vacancy]

Overview
The City needs you to ensure that all professional electrical engineering work for water systems and construction work for residential and commercial buildings meet safety standards. You will perform difficult professional engineering work in reviewing and analyzing electrical designs, plans, and specifications for adequacy and compliance with provisions of the electrical code and departmental standards; and perform other related duties as required. Inspections may be at construction sites with potential hazards such as construction and traffic hazards, chemicals, noise, moving equipment, and electrical hazards such as an arc flash. You must be able to climb ladders, crawl under structures, and perform occasional lifting for short periods to ensure contractors have thoroughly performed all tasks to a high standard. Responsibilities

Actual salary commensurate with applicable experience, pending approval. Qualifications
Education: Equivalent to graduation from a regionally-accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor’s degree in an engineering specialty. Education obtained outside the United States must be comparable and may require a foreign credential evaluation. We may request further information or an original transcript. Experience: Three years of non-registered professional electrical engineering experience. License: Possession of a valid license as a professional electrical engineer in the State of Hawaii. Applicants with a current out-of-state professional electrical engineer license must obtain Hawaii license prior to appointment. Also, possession of an appropriate valid driver’s license.
