Position
– VP, Tax
The VP, Tax is responsible for delivering and ensuring complete and accurate tax accounting presentation and footnotes for public company financial statements, tax compliance and tax planning for the worldwide consolidated group. This role leads all tax-related processes and communications to ensure regulatory compliance and reports the company’s tax position to internal management, the Audit Committee, and external auditors.
Responsibilities
Manage all aspects of tax, including federal, state, international income tax and franchise tax; strong knowledge of U.S. tax code and regulations.
Prepare quarterly and year-end financial statement tax provisions and disclosures, including footnotes for Forms 10-Q and 10-K, and reconcile current and deferred taxes.
Evaluate tax strategies and planning in light of law changes; communicate impact on the company’s tax position internally and externally.
Ensure timely filing and technical review of federal, state and international returns and quarterly estimated tax payments.
Lead tax audits, responses, and develop company positions toward favorable outcomes.
Maintain SOX controls around tax processes and financial reporting.
Oversee international tax accounting and returns for international subsidiaries; assist in developing global structure.
Manage global transfer pricing planning and compliance.
Manage foreign tax positions (FTCs, E&P, GILTI, FDII, 5471, etc.) and associated income tax accounting and compliance.
Lead tax analysis for investment initiatives and M&A transactions.
Perform other duties as requested.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Bachelor or Master’s degree in Accounting or related discipline; CPA preferred.
Minimum 15–20 years of progressive experience in a large public accounting firm or large corporate tax function.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to multi-task.
Extensive experience with merger and acquisition transactions (due diligence and structuring).
Excellent communication skills (oral, written, listening); self-starter with project management and partnering abilities.
Deep technical knowledge of U.S. federal, state and international tax laws and GAAP implications for financial statements.
Ability to translate tax theory into business decisions and transactions.
