Overview The Senior Instructional Materials Developer position within The Learning Design Group involves applying deep expertise in the development of science instructional materials as part of a highly collaborative team to design, revise, and support the implementation of high-quality instructional materials, including curriculum and/or assessments. The position may include serving as a supervisor. This position may be performed remotely anywhere within the United States, and fully remote candidates will be considered.

Responsibilities

Implements design frameworks and pedagogical approaches in the design and development of new science curriculum content, including teacher and student materials.

Uses considerable discretion to determine methods, approaches, and procedures for current and new curriculum and program development.

Leads, mentors, and provides work direction and feedback to Learning Design Group team members.

May serve as supervisor of record.

Professional development/other duties as assigned.

May develop and/or deliver awareness presentations or professional learning workshops about the curriculum or its approaches.

Required Qualifications

Deep understanding of three-dimensional, phenomenon-driven teaching and learning as specified by the National Research Council's Framework for K-12 Science Education and the Next Generation Science Standards.

Experience developing instructional materials for use at a national scale.

Experience analyzing and applying adoption criteria for science instructional materials.

Expertise in K-5 science education.

Working knowledge of Amplify Science curriculum.

Ability to manage complex work and achieve specified goals under time and resource constraints.

Ability to collaborate effectively in a variety of groups across a variety of contexts.

Thorough and effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.

Skill in using business software systems in the completion of work assignments; e.g., Google Suite, Miro, Monday.com, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, cloud-based file storage systems.

Experience as a supervisor of record.

Continuing education in related field required.

Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training.

Preferred Qualifications

Classroom teaching experience.

Project management experience.

Experience collaborating with multiple stakeholders in product design (e.g., content developers, vendors, editors, and designers).

Expertise in one or more of the following areas: Supporting multilingual learners; Designing for or working with historically marginalized populations; Physical science; Earth and space.

Under California law, the University of California, Berkeley is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role and should not offer a salary outside of the range posted in this job announcement. This range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, analysis of internal equity, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be offered a salary at or near the top of the range for a position. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience.

The budgeted annual salary range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position is $82,800.00 - $116,300.00.

This is an exempt monthly-paid position.
