The Lawrence Hall of Science is UC Berkeley's public science center. Our mission is to inspire and engage through science discovery and learning in ways that advance equity and opportunity. We do this by working with audiences that include learners, educators, and partners who conduct research, build capacity for learning, and transform education systems. Since 1968, we have been at the forefront of STEM learning as a Learning Lab that designs, develops and studies many learning programs for youth, families and adults from diverse backgrounds.

We disseminate and scale effective programs to broaden participation in STEM with local, national, and global impact.
Position Summary
The Lawrence Hall of Science serves more than 170,000 visitors on site each year. This role involves leading community-based hands-on STEM learning opportunities, planning, implementing, and presenting educational programs (Science Shows, Festivals and workshops) to enhance understanding of STEM and support teachers’ pedagogy. This position also coordinates outreach volunteers and/or docents.

Responsibilities
Under general supervision, coordinates and delivers established community-based educational programs and activities.
Manages volunteer-supported education initiatives and contributes to the development of new instructional materials and programming.
Supports the implementation and growth of revenue-generating educational programs by conducting outreach to schools and community partners, promoting program offerings, and providing input on pricing and budget planning.
Collaborates with marketing and development teams to expand program visibility and reach revenue targets.
Tracks participation and revenue metrics to support program evaluation and continuous improvement.
Researches participant data to enhance program delivery and outcomes.
Tracks and maintains required program-related paperwork, inventory, activity reports, and other documentation.
Participates in approved training and developmental activities to learn and maintain programmatic and subject matter competence.
May serve as a work leader to lower level educators, professionals or volunteers.
May provide training or mentoring to volunteers.
Required Qualifications
Experience developing and facilitating informal educational programs (virtual and in person) focused on science, technology, engineering, and/or math.
Working knowledge of informal learning educational techniques, including best practices for engaging learners in a variety of learning experiences.
Excellent verbal presentation, public speaking and facilitation skills, especially to large groups of mixed age learners.
Content knowledge in science, engineering, technology, math, and/or education pedagogy.
Intermediate skill in using business software systems in the completion of work assignments (Google Suite, Monday.com, Excel, etc.).
Ability to quickly establish rapport with diverse communities and learners to create an inclusive learning environment.
Working knowledge of current community education programs and trends.
Excellent customer service skills for internal and external clients.
Physical ability to lift crates (up to 50 pounds) and load/unload heavy carts; ability to drive large cargo vans for distances up to 4 hours (including overnight stays) when needed.
Ability to work evenings and weekends when needed.
Continuing education in a related field.
Bachelor's degree in a related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
