The Director, Donor Family Services directs the resources available to optimize the organ referral and authorization process. This position directs the organ referral, triage, and donor family services areas. It reports to the Sr. Clinical Director and collaborates with the Quality Director, Strategic Operations Director, Hospital Development Manager, and the Medical Director. This position holds responsibility for the managers and teams of the Donor Family Advocates and In-House Coordinators.**CORE DUTIES:*** Directs both referral intake and onsite response, optimizing systems and workflows to ensure no opportunity for donation is missed. Collaborates with the quality department to identify and implement improvements to the death record review process.* Works with approach staff and leadership to identify lessons learned and areas for improvement.* Coordinates with Clinical Managers and Administrators on Call to ensure resources are deployed to maximize approach and authorization opportunities.* Collaborates with Hospital Development to build and maintain strong relationships with hospital partners to foster seamless donation opportunities.* Ensures referral monitoring includes clinical assessments, hospital care plans, and family communication status.* Updates policies and procedures and oversees ongoing training of staff in receiving and evaluating incoming donor referral calls, determining medical suitability, and obtaining authorization/facilitating Donor Designation.* Partners with information technology staff to create relevant electronic reports to monitor trends and inform improvement strategies.* Participates in national and/or regional workgroups to enhance authorization practices.* Supports and engages with Hospital Services staff in various Hospital Development initiatives.* Participates in the call schedule to ensure efficient operation of donation activities.* Establishes and continuously assesses the effectiveness of the internal controls within the unit and compliance with University policies and procedures.* Ensures employees are trained on controls within the function and on University policy and procedures.***This list of duties and responsibilities is not intended to be all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties or responsibilities as necessary.*****CORE QUALIFICATIONS****Education:**Bachelor’s degree in relevant field required**Certification and Licensing:**CPTC required**Experience:**Minimum 5 years of organ procurement experience required**Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes:*** Strategic Alignment: Skilled in aligning departmental goals with enterprise-wide strategy and develops comprehensive strategic plans.* Financial Management: Ensures fiscal responsibility, and optimization of financial performance.* Resource Management: Ability to allocate resources and drive innovation and growth.* Adaptability: Proven ability to adjust to changes and leads/inspires transformational change.* Team Leadership: Ability to build and lead high-performing teams, manage complex projects, and ensure successful project delivery.* Technology & Analytics: Understanding of technology, data analytics, and performance measurement to drive strategic decisions and identify opportunities.* Communication: Ability to influence others, articulate strategic vision, and ensure clear and persuasive communication.The University of Miami offers competitive salaries and a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, tuition remission and more.UHealth-University of Miami Health System, South Florida's only university-based health system, provides leading-edge patient care powered by the ground breaking research and medical education at the Miller School of Medicine.
