Overview
Assistant Director of Residence Life (ADRL) within the Upper Division Housing unit of the Residential Life program, part of the Residential, Retail and Supply Chain Services (RRSS) team at UC San Diego. RRSS supports Housing, Dining and Hospitality (HDH) and other units, focusing on delivering services to the university community with emphasis on equity, diversity and inclusion. Position reports to the Associate Director of Upper Division Housing and coordinates significant portions of the residential life program to create a safe and secure living and learning environment that supports students’ personal, educational, social and professional development. Responsibilities
Coordinate the Resident Advisor program, including the selection process, comprehensive trainings and providing work direction through weekly meetings and annual evaluations. Advise Resident Advisors and residential programming boards to implement comprehensive programming models aligned with the UC San Diego Principles of Community and the educational philosophy. Assist in managing a portion of the residential programming budget. Collaborate with college and university officials and departments in managing student crises; provide counseling, conflict mediation and enforcement of university policy; resolve conduct issues. Apply professional practice in student services, working independently to interpret complex policies, procedures and regulations. Assess situations and determine appropriate action or referral; respond to student needs for programs, services and crisis intervention. Qualifications
Thorough knowledge of student advising and counseling techniques. Thorough knowledge of Student Affairs / Student Life specialization. Skilled in managing a broad range of student services within the residential life community; knowledgeable of university services and resources. Strong knowledge of common University-specific computer applications; understanding of risk assessment and mitigation. Judgment and decision-making, problem solving, and ability to evaluate system performance and improve outcomes. Project management, problem identification and reasoning skills; ability to develop original ideas to solve problems. Ability to apply professional approaches to plan and organize programs and projects. Special Conditions
Background check required. Campus Security Authority (CSA) responsibilities: immediate reporting of Clery Act crimes; training and reporting to UC San Diego Police Department (UCPD). Mandated Reporter: immediate reporting of child abuse/neglect per California law and university policy. Responsible Employee: immediate reporting of discrimination under Title IX; training and reporting to Title IX Coordinator. Pay Transparency Act Annual Full Pay Range: $58,600 - $100,800 (will be prorated if appointment percentage is less than 100%). Hourly Equivalent: $28.07 - $48.28. Pay scale: The Hiring Pay Scale in the posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range; the Annual Full Pay Range may be broader due to internal equity, budget and collective bargaining.
