Department overview Join the Residential, Retail and Supply Chain Services (RRSS) team at UC San Diego, a dynamic campus department dedicated to delivering exceptional service to the university community. RRSS supports Housing, Dining and Hospitality (HDH), Integrated Procure-to-Pay Solutions (IPPS), the UC San Diego Bookstore, Triton Print & Digital Media, and the Early Childhood Education Center (ECEC). RRSS aims to meet the diverse needs of the UC San Diego community while fostering belonging. RRSS includes over 900 staff, 1,000 student employees, and an annual operating budget of $250 million, providing housing and dining services to over 20,000 students, faculty, staff, and their families.

Position description Under general supervision the Custodial Services Assistant Manager is responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations of custodial duties for the assigned area. Plan a custodial program for facilities, inspect or review repair recommendations, discuss damage charges with the Office or Custodial Services Manager and students involved. Interview, hire, train senior custodians, laborers and temporary staff. Coordinate Laborer support of Building Maintenance Workers as needed. Perform inspections, inventories, and prepare various reports and records. Order supplies. Assist in the preparation of the annual budget. Receive work assignments subject to a moderate level of control and review. Instruct direct reports to complete assignments using established guidelines, procedures and policies. Requires full knowledge of own area of functional responsibility. May perform custodial duties part of the time.

Qualifications

Working knowledge in custodial and housekeeping services.

Verbal and written communication skills in English, active listening, flexibility, critical thinking, multi-tasking, and time management.

Working knowledge of decision making, reasoning, original idea development to solve problems, operations analysis, and quality control analysis.

Working knowledge and skill in effective interpersonal and work leadership to guide other personnel.

Intermediate computer application skills including Microsoft Suite.

Basic math skills to compute inventories, order supplies, determine charges and mix solutions.

Special conditions

Occasional evenings and weekends may be required.

Job offer is contingent on clear background check.

Required to hold a valid driver's license and have a driving record in accordance with local policies; may enroll in the California Employer Pull Notice Program.

Pay and eligibility Note: Pay transparency information

Annual Full Pay Range: $55,400 - $93,800 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $26.53 - $44.92

Factors in determining compensation include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and organizational needs. The posted pay range is the budgeted salary or hourly range the University expects to pay; the Annual Full Pay Range may be broader based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining where applicable.
