What to Expect We are seeking an Onboard Diagnostics (OBD) Software Engineer to ensure compliance with evolving OBD regulations worldwide. You will navigate complex regulatory landscapes, oversee OBD certifications and reporting, implement standardized diagnostic frameworks in embedded software, and optimize internal processes to prevent costly delays or fines. This role requires strong expertise in automotive diagnostics, embedded firmware, calibration, and cross-functional collaboration.

What You'll Do

Stay current with global OBD regulations and translate them into actionable engineering requirements

Develop embedded diagnostic strategies and implement them using protocols such as UDS, CAN, and DoIP

Manage OBD certification activities, including preparation of reports for regulatory agencies and resolution of compliance issues

Oversee the integration of OBD-related firmware into powertrain/vehicle systems, ensuring robust tracking and reporting of diagnostic data

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to refine internal processes, streamline compliance efforts, and drive on-time product releases

Represent the company in industry forums, influencing emerging OBD regulations and best practices

Document technical procedures and create guidelines that enhance collaboration and knowledge transfer

What You'll Bring

Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience

Proven background in automotive diagnostics, including hands-on development of embedded software for OBD compliance

Experience with calibration tools and automotive communication networks (CAN, LIN) for system validation and troubleshooting

Familiarity with global OBD regulations, certification processes, and related standards (e.g., SAE J1979, ISO 13400)

Proficiency in C/C++ or similar languages for embedded firmware development

Strong organizational skills to manage multiple regulatory timelines, prepare accurate documentation, and address audits

Excellent communication skills for effective coordination with regulatory agencies, industry committees, and cross-functional teams

Prior success in leading or supporting OBD certification in production vehicles is a plus

Expected Compensation $133,440 - $292,800/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits

Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
