Bessemer Trust
Bessemer Trust is seeking a thoughtful, inquisitive investment professional with private markets investment experience to join its Private Equity team. This team is primarily responsible for allocating the capital of our private equity-dedicated partnerships on behalf of clients. This individual will work closely with colleagues on new investment activities, as well as monitoring, analyzing, and reporting on existing investments, which include funds, co-investments, and direct investments. This role is expected to include significant interaction with Bessemer colleagues, clients, and external managers.
Primary Responsibilities
Source, screen, and diligence compelling fund, co-investment, and direct investment opportunities offered by institutional-quality private equity managers, including preparing investment committee materials and presenting findings and recommendations
Conduct careful and thoughtful investment research and fundamental analysis that considers the future of global economies and capital markets
Interpret and build quantitative models to support decision making and presentations related to transactions, portfolios, and reporting
Coordinate with operational due diligence, legal, finance, and tax teams to support investment due diligence
Monitor day-to-day activities of a subset of funded managers within Bessemer\'s private equity program
Contribute to investor-related reporting and client and advisor communications, including presentations, performance updates, and marketing materials
Network and develop lasting relationships with external managers, intermediaries, limited partners, and other leaders in the field of private markets
Interact occasionally with clients and frequently with colleagues across Bessemer
Travel for and participate in managers’ annual general meetings, onsite due diligence meetings, and industry conferences and events
Qualifications
Bachelor\'s degree required
Master’s degree and industry-related certifications (CFA, CAIA) a plus
4 to 7 years of relevant investment or related experience, including at least 2 to 3 years of experience researching managers in private markets
Demonstrated investment experience preferred in buyout, growth equity, and/or venture capital
Knowledge of the private equity manager universe preferred
Co-investment or direct investment underwriting experience preferred with demonstrated quantitative skills, valuation analysis, and transaction modeling experience
Effective communicator with excellent written and oral communication skills
Collaborative team member who works with colleagues to achieve organizational goals; supports final group decisions, even when such decisions may not reflect own position; and shares credit for team accomplishments
Demonstrates professionalism, integrity, accountability, and ability to multitask and observe deadlines
Research and tech savvy; strong proficiency in Microsoft suite; familiarity with financial and record management tools such as Burgiss, Cobalt, Dynamo, FactSet, PitchBook a plus
Compensation and Benefits The base salary range for this position is $125,000 - $160,000. Actual salaries will vary based on skills, experience, and qualifications. The role may be eligible for a discretionary incentive based on individual and company performance. Eligible employees may participate in a 401(k) program with a company profit sharing contribution, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability coverage, and paid holidays, vacation, and sick days.
