Goodwill Southern California is a leading non-profit brand focused on transforming lives through the power of work. The Director, Development Major Gifts generates and manages a portfolio of supporters and investors to advance the mission. The role reports to the Chief Development Officer and involves identifying, contacting, and developing relationships with individuals, family foundations, and major gift donors to invite engagement, support, and charitable gifts in the range of $10,000-$5,000,000. The Director also manages grant fundraising activities, maintains the portfolio in the CRM donor database, and may supervise development or grants support staff as necessary. Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Responsible for a minimum of 120 donor visits, substantive conversations, and/or virtual meetings annually. Responsible for 36-40 solicitations annually of $10,000 or more. First year’s revenue goal is a range of $1.0-1.25 million and will increase annually thereafter. Work with the Chief Development Officer to create a strategic tactical plan for the Development team. Create and execute a consistent Annual Giving Campaign. Analyze options for recurring giving platforms and implement to provide Goodwill with consistent, sustainable annual donors. Create programming and stewardship activities that recognize and steward Goodwill donors. Develop and implement prospect cultivation, evaluation, management, solicitation, reporting and stewardship systems. Manage and monitor grant fundraising activities including maintaining portfolio in CRM donor database. Assist Board of Directors Development Committee members to cultivate and solicit grants. Prepare enterprise case statements and proposals for major gifts contributors. Work closely and collaboratively with the Development, Finance, Community Relations, and WCD departments to assure all prospects are appropriately coordinated and solicited in a timely and effective manner. Comply with the Association of Fund Raising Professionals' Code of Ethics and Donor Bill of Rights. Assist in development, implementation, and monitoring of departmental strategic plan, annual budget, and department-wide donor recognition program. Coordinate operating procedures and tasks related to Corporate & Foundation Giving. This position requires some travel (up to 50%) within Southern California. A valid CA driver\'s license and state-required auto insurance. Driving records must be acceptable by our insurance carrier. Experience

5-10 years of experience in soliciting major gifts for nonprofit organizations required. 3+ years of grants cultivation/solicitation experience required. Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university required. Experience with Salesforce or other CRM platforms required. Demonstrated ability to work with individual financial donors of high net worth and backgrounds with professionalism, sensitivity and integrity, including business people of means. Well established existing relationships with major gifts donors and donor prospects. Self-initiative, personal tact and creative talent required to motivate volunteers, donors and donor prospects. Possesses a valid driver's license and state-required auto insurance. Required to travel extensively (> 50% of the time) Ability to handle confidential information.
