Gateway Foundation Central Office - 500 West Monroe, Chicago, IL 60680 Work Schedule

Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM or 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM The Staff Accountant is responsible for:

Reviews and analyzes financial statements for assigned operating units or accounts; performs calculations and verifications of accounting information, prepares journal entries, and makes general ledger corrections. Reconciles various transactions and accounts (e.g., prepaid accounts, liability accounts, bank statements, fixed asset purchases, AR/AP corrections). Closes accounting periods for assigned units and accounts by ensuring all activity is recorded, making corrections, and preparing closing entries and instructions. Provides accounting expertise and financial administration advice to assigned units in interpreting and analyzing financial statements, and prepares various analyses and reports as requested. Compiles data from source documents and performs calculations to complete recurring and special reports related to financial status, budgets, expenses, and balance sheets. Analyzes and interprets contracts and funding source requirements for accounting or financial reporting compliance, and completes necessary reports. Works on special projects or team assignments, such as reviewing accounting procedures, correcting errors, updating distributions, and preparing audit work papers. Evaluates and develops accounting procedures to ensure regulatory and GAAP compliance. Qualifications

Bachelor\'s degree in Accounting or closely related field. 1-3 years of accounting experience. Knowledge of accounting principles, theories, systems; ability to balance accounts and prepare related statements and reports. Interpersonal skills to work with diverse personnel in data collection and analysis. Strong analytical abilities and attention to detail to analyze, verify, and adjust accounting records and to prepare financial statements. Proficiency with database and spreadsheet applications and accurate data entry. Physical Requirements

Ability to communicate effectively and gather information. Ability to respond to telephone inquiries. Ability to proofread and verify data and calculations from printed and digital sources. Proficiency with keyboard and monitor for data entry and auditing tasks. Compensation

Salary between $60,000 and $70,000, based on experience. Gateway Foundation conducts annual merit-based salary reviews. Benefits
