Gateway Foundation, Inc. is a national non-profit dedicated to helping individuals with substance use and mental health disorders. Established in 1968, Gateway provides essential tools and knowledge for recovery, positively impacting hundreds of thousands of lives. Location:
Gateway Foundation Central Office - 500 West Monroe, Chicago, IL 60680
Work Schedule:
Monday through Friday from 8:00AM-4:00PM or 8:30AM-4:30PM
Onsite/Hybrid:
Onsite for 90 days, upon completion will move to a hybrid model of 3 days onsite and 2 days remote
Responsibilities
Reviews and analyzes financial statements for assigned operating units, or assigned accounts or recurring entries. Prepares journal entries and makes general ledger corrections.
Reconciles various transactions and accounts such as prepaid accounts, liability accounts, bank statements, fixed asset purchases, and corrections to accounts receivable or accounts payable.
Closes accounting period for assigned operating units and accounts by ensuring all activity is recorded, applying corrections, and preparing closing entries and instructions.
Provides accounting expertise to assigned operating units in interpreting and analyzing financial statements, and prepares analyses and summary reports.
Compiles data from source documents and performs calculations and spreadsheet analyses for recurring and special reports related to financial status, budgets, expenses, and balance sheets.
Analyzes contracts and funding source requirements for accounting or financial reporting compliance, and completes required reports.
Works on special projects independently or as a team member, including process improvements, error investigation, audit work papers, and distribution updates.
Evaluates and develops accounting procedures to ensure regulatory compliance and adherence to accepted accounting principles.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a closely related field.
1-3 years of accounting experience relevant to analyzing and maintaining assigned accounts.
Knowledge of accounting principles, ability to analyze and balance accounts, maintain ledgers and journals, and prepare related statements and reports.
Interpersonal skills to work with various personnel to collect and analyze financial data.
Advanced analytical abilities and high attention to detail to verify and adjust accounting records and prepare financial statements.
Proficiency with database and spreadsheet applications and accurate data entry.
Physical Requirements
Ability to communicate to gather and exchange information.
Ability to respond to telephone inquiries.
Ability to proofread and verify data and calculations from printed forms and computer screens.
Ability to use a keyboard and video display terminal to enter, retrieve, and audit information.
Compensation
The salary is between $60,000-$70,000, based on experience and credentials.
Gateway Foundation conducts annual reviews including merit increases.
