Memorial Hermann is seeking a strategic leader to shape, advance, and execute the enterprise strategy to drive long‑term growth and market leadership. The Director of Strategy will evaluate market trends and the competitive landscape to identify new business opportunities and lead initiatives that enhance organizational performance, positioning, and innovation. The ideal candidate is analytical and creative, able to translate data into actionable plans and influence stakeholders at all levels. This role will work closely with service line Senior Vice Presidents and Vice Presidents.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Bachelor’s degree is required. Masters of Business Administration or Masters of Health Administration preferred. Licenses/Certifications:
None Experience / Knowledge / Skills: Minimum of 5 years of experience in related field; experience at a top-tier management consulting firm preferred Strategic thinker with ability to identify new investment, partnership, and innovation opportunities aligned with key strategic priorities and with potential to be value accretive for the system Demonstrated track record of establishing effective cross-functional partnerships and relationships at all levels in a highly collaborative environment Strong communication and interpersonal skills, ability to structure and deliver presentations clearly, crisply, and compellingly while championing recommendations and influencing decisions with key stakeholders Results-oriented and highly accountable individual who thrives in fast-paced, demanding environments, maintaining professionalism and data integrity Proficient in multi-tasking, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and independently Continual improvement mindset, always looking for ways to improve individually and organizationally Advanced proficiency in analytical and statistical tools to analyze and interpret data, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint Principal Accountabilities
Collaborates with senior leadership across service lines, care delivery sites, and system services to translate ideas into strategic investment themes and initiatives with clear value creation potential Support business case development and diligence tied to acquisitions, divestitures, partnerships, and joint ventures, interfacing with Finance, Accounting, Legal, Tax, HR, IT, Digital and other departments to ensure seamless deal execution and value‑creation capture Support diligence on strategic equity investment opportunities in partnership with subject matter experts and external parties (e.g., private equity, venture capital, other strategics) Support the annual strategic planning process via collaboration among Care Delivery Executives, Senior Service Line Executives, System Services leadership, and physician leaders Support ongoing operations for Memorial Hermann’s Innovation Hub and shepherd Innovation Hub projects from identification to deployment Contribute to evaluation and implementation of thematic opportunities or initiatives, rapidly analyzing potential assets to assess fit and independently driving end‑to‑end investment and innovation efforts Serve as a problem‑solving partner with key stakeholders and senior executives on critical strategic questions Support development of Strategic Investment Committee presentations and materials Track and report competitive intelligence on local, regional, and national competitors, including traditional health system competitors and emerging players (private equity, retail, payers, etc.) Track and report on emerging industry and market trends, including disruptive technologies and partnerships Lead special projects and similar requests from senior executives Ensure safe care to patients, staff, and visitors; adhere to Memorial Hermann policies within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity and quality of service Promote professional growth and development; support department goals; serve as preceptor, mentor, and resource to less experienced staff Demonstrate commitment to caring for every member of the community by creating compassionate and personalized experiences; model service standards Other duties as assigned Seniority level
