The IT Support / Systems Engineer provides hands-on technical support to employees and assists with maintaining IT infrastructure. This role focuses on troubleshooting, basic system administration, and collaborating with senior IT staff on infrastructure projects. Location: Santa Clara, CA - 95054 (ONSITE) Duration: 3 Months Contract Must-Have Skills (Core Requirements)
Windows OS (desktop & server) administration and troubleshooting Active Directory (user accounts, groups, GPO basics) Basic networking (LAN/WAN, DNS, DHCP, IP addressing, connectivity) Hardware/software troubleshooting (PCs, printers, apps) Strong customer service and communication skills Ability to document and follow IT processes Key Responsibilities
Respond to technical support requests for hardware, software, and network issues. Troubleshoot and resolve user issues; escalate more complex problems to senior IT staff. Assist in the setup, configuration, and maintenance of desktops, laptops, and servers. Help manage user accounts, permissions, and Active Directory objects. Support virtualization environments (VMware, Hyper-V) under guidance. Assist in routine system updates, patches, and software deployments. Maintain documentation for support procedures and system configurations. Participate in small-scale IT projects, such as workstation upgrades or new software rollouts. Provide basic support for backups, network devices, and IT security procedures. Required Skills and Qualifications
2-5 years of IT support or systems experience. Strong knowledge of Windows operating systems and basic networking. Experience with Active Directory, user accounts, and group policies. Familiarity with virtualization (VMware or Hyper-V) is a plus. Basic exposure to Linux environments is helpful but not required. Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills. Good communication and customer service skills. Ability to work independently on smaller tasks and collaboratively on team projects. Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field is a plus but not required. Seniority level
