The Director of Finance reports to the CFO and leads the financial operations of the company, ensuring robust credit, collections, and cash application processes, accurate reporting, and compliance with tax and legal obligations. This role oversees a broad set of financial activities and teams, supports executive decision-making, and collaborates across Human Resources, Sales, Legal, and IT. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Credit

Oversee the full credit lifecycle, including credit investigations, credit extension, and denials with documentation. Manage online and paper credit applications through a software provider. API to Credit Bureau for all applicants. Develop Credit Report Scorecard through Credit Bureau. Administer welcome and denial letters. Maintain customer account details, contacts, invoice delivery preferences, and account change requests. Cash Account Setup and auditing. Collections & Risk Management

Lead consistent collections processes across all operating companies. Manage collections, unapplied payments, account status reviews, dispute management, customer account maintenance and reconciliation (including adjustments, journal entries, sales tax adjustments, and sales tax exemption certificates). Use of Credit Release System requiring document releases for customers over credit limit. Bi-monthly dispute tracking and aged AR reports (including aged whole goods, rentals, COD, and >60 days past due). Handle refunds, credit risk reporting to bureaus, use of third-party agencies and outside attorneys, bankruptcies, repossessions, legal actions, chargebacks, fraud tracking and escalation. Accounts Receivable

Direct accounts receivable operations and cash application/payment processing. Oversee daily payment processing: Lockbox, ACH/Wire, online payment portal, credit card payments, and miscellaneous payments. Post customer payments and financial adjustments; oversee lockbox operations, chargebacks, returned checks, and virtual lockbox. Ensure timely processing of HR member payments for benefits; WEX – US Forest Service credit card payments. Pacific Rim Funding

Review new loan applications; collect and post payments; resolve returned checks; reconcile general ledger. Manage repossessions, auctions, bankruptcies, legal actions; manage bad debt and reserves; manage merchant IDs and card payments; order new IDs during acquisition and growth. Negotiate contracts; support vendor/partner negotiations; deliver reporting (monthly currency, bad debt, reserves, finance income, extended terms, contra, recourse & residual guarantees, status reviews; annual unclaimed property/escheatment). Create annual budget and track progress; code and pay departmental AP invoices; participate in annual bank and public audits. Leadership & Staff Development

Supervise Credit Managers, AR Manager, Credit Administrators, Analysts, Specialists, and office staff; indirect reporting of Finance Managers. Oversight of contracts and commission payments; oversee PMH/PMI/annual meetings and access updates; hire, onboard, evaluate performance, and train staff; manage timecards, overtime, and performance meetings. Coordinate with GMs and stakeholders to resolve escalations; train staff on procedures for cash deposits, credit card reports, lockbox remittance, and scanning; maintain training manuals. Systems, Procedures & Documentation

Ensure accuracy of financial systems; work with IT; maintain up-to-date procedure manuals, training guides, forms, and policies; standardize documentation, statement contacts, and customer profiling. Special Projects & Departmental Collaboration

Participate in cross-functional initiatives with Marketing, Sales, Legal, and HR; represent the finance function in meetings and travel planning. Oversee public-facing forms (credit applications) and internal-facing forms (credit card on file approval, reporting, cash deposits, check remittances); manage customer profile access across operating companies. Candidate Profile

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or related field. MBA or CPA preferred. • 10+ years of progressive financial experience, including 5+ years in a leadership role. • Strong knowledge of AR, credit policies, financial reporting, and sales tax regulations. • Proficiency in financial platforms and ERP systems. • Exceptional communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
