Overview
The Santa Barbara Museum of Art, a leading West Coast art museum, is looking for a Communications and Social Media Manager who is creative, collaborative, and organized, bringing broad professional expertise in public relations, marketing, social media, digital engagement, photo asset management and audience development. Reporting to the Director of Marketing and Communications, this position supports the implementation of energetic and innovative marketing and communications strategies that effectively attract and retain a diverse and large audience for the museum, its exhibitions, public programming and educational activities. The Communications and Social Media Manager will manage the Museum’s social media and digital platforms, including content development and strategy, and engage in building audiences. Responsibilities
Content Development and Production Develop content for digital initiatives, including social media platforms, paid digital advertising, and Google Ads. Write, review, and update website content proactively. Support video content production from concept through delivery. Social Media Management Lead brainstorming sessions and develop content for social media platforms. Maintain and update the social media content calendar and related copy review files. Support the Director in managing overall content scheduling and coordination. External Communications Assist in developing and finalizing marketing materials, including membership communications, e-blasts, advertisements, and a quarterly print newsletter. Media Relations Draft and distribute exhibition and event listings to local and national media contacts. Maintain and update media contact lists; track and archive press coverage. Draft, proof, and edit press releases and other press materials. Support in-person press briefings and special events as needed. Marketing Team Operations Manage the master content calendar for advertising, newsletters, and social media. Obtain estimates and coordinate with vendors. Provide administrative support, including processing invoices and payments. Qualifications
BA degree required, 2–5 years of digital/social media, and public relations and/or marketing experience. Prior successful experience with digital communication tools (email campaigns, online calendars, social media scheduling software, PR tracking/coverage, digital media creation, MS Office Suite, Photoshop, etc.). Must have experience with management, content development, and execution of social media initiatives, including Facebook, Instagram, X, Google, TikTok, etc. Requires excellent personal and organizational skills, strong ability to multi-task, and strong written and verbal communication skills. Additional Information
