Senior Quality Engineer Overview

The Senior Quality Engineer is responsible for planning, implementing, and managing Quality Management System (QMS) functions to ensure compliance with ISO 9001:2015 standards and for the continuous improvement of product quality. Key areas include Return Material Authorization (RMA), Corrective Action Reports (CAR), Material Review Board (MRB), internal and external audits, supplier quality, document control, engineering change notifications (ECN/PCN), calibration, and overall quality initiatives. This role reports to the Senior Director of Quality Assurance and requires cross-functional collaboration to drive improvements in process, product, and program performance. The Senior Quality Engineer will support supplier qualifications and monitoring, conduct audits, oversee inspection and acceptance processes, and lead root cause analysis and corrective/preventive action (CAPA) activities. This role requires onsite presence daily.

Key Responsibilities:

Manage and maintain QMS functions to ensure compliance with ISO 9001:2015 and other regulatory requirements.

Monitor operations and support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product, process, and program quality.

Track and analyze production and customer RMA data to identify trends and lead root cause analysis efforts.

Issue and manage CARs and SCARs, ensuring timely follow-up, reporting, and resolution.

Evaluate supplier performance through audits and process reviews to ensure compliance with product and process standards.

Ensure adherence to contractual and regulatory requirements, initiating corrective actions as needed.

Lead and support continuous improvement projects to optimize operational effectiveness.

Conduct internal audits and enforce QMS compliance across all functions.

Manage ROHS and REACH compliance for all products.

Provide guidance to production technicians regarding quality standards and expectations.

Supervise the QA Inspector and oversee incoming and final inspection activities.

Report quality metrics regularly to leadership and recommend improvement strategies.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Engineering, Quality, or related discipline)

Minimum 8 years of experience in Quality Assurance, preferably in a semiconductor or fabless environment

Strong working knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 and QMS principles

Experience with root cause analysis, problem-solving, and statistical quality methods

Proficient in inspection and testing techniques

Hands-on experience implementing corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)

Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Knowledge of ROHS and REACH compliance

Excellent time management, organization, and communication skills

Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with ISO 13485, IEC 60601, or other medical device standards

Six Sigma Green Belt certification or higher

Training in Lean manufacturing methodologies

Experience with semiconductor manufacturing processes

Familiarity with document control systems and PCB manufacturing processes

Customer and supplier interface experience

Reliability engineering knowledge and experience with statistical tools (e.g., Minitab)

Familiarity with CCD/CMOS image sensors and/or X-ray detectors

Working knowledge of NetSuite ERP System

Compensation

The compensation salary range for this role is $120,000 to $150,000. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, and certifications.
