Overview

Lamar Community College (LCC) is a learner-centered, Hispanic-Serving, open enrollment, two-year post-secondary institution. LCC is committed to enriching lives through learning, and we are searching for a new Dean of Academic Services who can demonstrate a commitment to student success. The Academic Dean reports to the Vice President of Academic Affairs & Student Services and is charged with ensuring the rigor, relevance, delivery, quality, and integrity of all instructional programs and services offered by Lamar Community College. In partnership with the Vice President, the position supervises the LCC faculty, develops new programs, reviews programs to ensure instructional offerings are current and effective, oversees the college’s assessment agenda as it relates to instruction, coordinates course and faculty scheduling, observation and evaluation of faculty, and promotes the use of instructional technology and effective pedagogical practices. This position supervises Arts & Sciences and Career & Technical Education faculty & staff, as well as all adjunct instructors, the Registrar, Cultivate@LCC, Library, Learning Support Services, ACE Center, and assists in the implementation and expansion of Concurrent Enrollment. Along with other college leaders, the Dean is involved in ensuring Higher Learning Commission (HLC) accreditation standards are met, assists in writing, implementing and measuring grant outcomes related to academic areas. Responsibilities

Provide visionary leadership that advances the College’s mission, vision, and strategic priorities, fostering an inclusive, student-centered academic environment. Champion student success by promoting responsive teaching, closing equity gaps, and expanding access for underserved learners, including adult, first-generation, veteran, students with disabilities, and low-income students. Recruit, lead, supervise, and support faculty, instructional staff, and academic personnel, including hiring, evaluation, mentoring, and professional development. Ensure faculty meet all required qualifications and CTE credentialing standards. Oversee curriculum development, program review, and assessment of student learning to ensure academic quality, continuous improvement, economic mobility outcome, and compliance with accreditation standards. Serve as the primary contact for student academic concerns, addressing issues with fairness, integrity, empathy, and collaboration. Manage academic operations, including scheduling, staffing, faculty contracts, and instructional budgets, ensuring alignment with all required policies. Support instructional innovation, faculty professional growth, and integration of effective and inclusive pedagogy. Lead and administer academic components of grants, budgets, and accreditation processes, including system and industry-based program accreditation, and non-degree industry credentials. Guide the timely development and delivery of all LCC course schedules and curricula, ensuring appropriate class sizes, faculty teaching loads, instructional resources, and technology are maintained. Provide strong leadership and active participation in Colorado Online and the Rural Consortium to expand access, enhance instructional quality, and align offerings with statewide and regional needs. Assist in expanding, and sustain partnerships with K–12 schools, universities, industry, and community organizations to strengthen pathways and workforce alignment. Collaborate with institutional leadership, committees, and system offices to advance college-wide initiatives, recruitment, retention, completion, and placement/transfer efforts. Engage in professional development, and system-level activities to remain current on higher education trends and innovations. Embrace and manage change initiatives while maintaining collegiality and professional communication across the institution. Attend some evening and weekend work as well as travel between LCC sites and to meetings in Denver and other locations in Colorado. Perform other related duties in support of academic excellence and institutional success. Minimum Qualifications

Master’s degree from an accredited institution in a relevant field. Demonstrated teaching experience at the college level and at least five years of progressive leadership, management, or administrative responsibility. Proven experience supervising, mentoring, and developing teams to achieve complex institutional goals. Knowledge of curriculum design, instructional theory, and evidence-based teaching practices. Exceptional written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders. Strong capacity to analyze and apply data for strategic planning, decision-making, and continuous improvement. Preferred Qualifications

Leadership experience in a community college environment, with demonstrated ability to influence or shape instructional policies, programs, and innovations. Advanced expertise in curriculum design, instructional strategies, and assessment of student learning outcomes. Successful experience in developing, writing, administering, and monitoring grants. Familiarity with instructional and emerging educational technologies, active learning methods, and inclusive pedagogy. Demonstrated commitment to equity, access, and student success, with particular attention to serving diverse, rural, and underrepresented student populations.
