Our client is a privately held company; this role is remote but requires local presence for meetings. Resumes from local candidates (MA, CT, RI, NY) will be considered. Key Responsibilities
Prepare and analyze financial statements, management reports, and oversee monthly balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring accurate and timely reporting. Manage general ledger activities, journal entries, accruals, and subledger reconciliations. Support and collaborate with internal teams (e.g., procurement, project management, R&D) to resolve accounting issues, especially those relating to inventory, payroll, cost of sales, and compliance with specialized revenue recognition standards. Ensure compliance with US GAAP, IFRS, and company policies, including preparing schedules for audits and regulatory filings. Promote process and control improvements, contributing ideas for implementing new tools and efficient techniques to enhance financial operations. Support tax compliance (property, income, international tax filings, R&D credits, etc.) and regulatory reporting for manufacturing. Assist with onboarding new customers and vendors, expense reimbursements, and review expense variances against budget. Mentor junior staff and provide financial support to cross-functional teams, especially for manufacturing finance and inventory management. Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance and 5+ years of relevant experience in a highly complex environment. Proven experience as a Senior Accountant, preferably in biotechnology, life science, or manufacturing. Strong knowledge of accounting principles, regulatory requirements, and advanced proficiency with financial software (NetSuite, Excel, or equivalent). Analytical mindset and excellent attention to detail. Ability to interpret complex financial data and convey this information to a non-finance audience. Experience with process improvements and cross-functional collaboration. Problem-solving for complex accounting scenarios unique to life sciences (e.g., project-based revenue recognition, inventory impairments). Strong communication and organization for interfacing with auditors, finance team, and manufacturing departments. Leadership in producing audit-ready schedules and ensuring accurate documentation for compliance. Experience and desire to work in a fast-paced ever-changing environment. Seniority level
