As a Talent Acquisition Business Partner, your days will be full, fast-paced and challenging. You will meet with candidates, consult with business partners, network within the industry, and strategize ongoing improvements and new ideas to help us meet our operational goals. You will live our brand by questioning authority, taking educated risks, and thinking like an owner. You will leverage your strengths in relationship building regularly, partnering with colleagues across all levels and departments of the organization (Property Management, Organization and Talent Development, Facilities, Investments, etc.) with the shared goal of maximizing the potential of employee and asset performance in your region.
Under the general supervision of the VP of HR Transformation the Talent Acquisition Business Partner is responsible for the overall sourcing, recruitment, and placement of candidates for market and corporate positions to meet current and future staffing needs. The Talent Acquisition Business Partner will develop and use a variety of proven recruiting strategies to fill job openings in a timely manner and ensure strategic, creative, cost-effective candidate sourcing while managing the candidate experience by modeling the Equity Residential brand. Primary job functions include, but are not limited to, building and maintaining a diverse candidate pipeline through sourcing and outreach; screening, interviewing, and hiring candidates; developing and maintaining a college/university/trade school recruiting strategy; drive our diversity talent strategy within their assigned market; presenting a diverse slate of talent to our hiring team; analyzing compensation trends and making salary recommendations for all new hires and promotions; coaching and training hiring managers on interviewing and hiring decisions; and analyzing results of recruiting strategies and employment turnover.

Our current onsite work schedule requires attendance from Monday through Thursday each week, with remote work permitted on Fridays.

WHAT YOU’LL DO
Sourcing & Recruiting Strategy - 50%
In partnership with the Vice President Property Management and Director, Talent Acquisition, develops and implements recruiting and selection strategies for assigned region/portfolio.
Acts as a strategic business partner to Vice Presidents, Regional Managers, corporate team members, and onsite associates, collaborating to address regional and/or community challenges with staffing and retention.
Researches, identifies, and establishes business relationships with diverse talent sources (colleges/universities, trade schools, military veteran networks, professional associations, etc.) in local markets.
Builds, manages, and maintains a candidate pipeline. Develops and implements a passive candidate recruiting strategy.
Screens resumes and conducts initial phone screens with candidates for employment. Schedules and conducts in-person and/or video interviews for all market and corporate positions in the assigned region.
Makes hiring decisions, including selection of top candidate, proposal of salary, and extension of offer/salary negotiation for non-managerial market positions (Central Casting positions).
Assesses and recommends candidates for further interviews with Hiring Manager(s) for managerial and corporate positions (non-Central Casting positions) and consults with Hiring Managers on selection process and compensation.
Manages internal transfer and promotion process for assigned geographic area, participating in the process as an interviewer and decision maker as needed.
Sources candidates for internship and apprenticeship programs; manages the placement of interns and monitors progress and results. Participates in efforts to keep programs up to date and competitive; may be called upon to revise existing programs or develop new ones.
Coordinates and leads job fairs and recruiting events at EQR communities, universities, trade schools, military events, local city-sponsored events, etc, with an emphasis on increasing Equity’s diversity efforts.
Maintain Equity’s Brand & Culture - 25%
Acts as a brand ambassador. Pursues opportunities to become embedded in local market by attending networking events, leading information sessions and/or resume workshops, serving on local advisory boards and industry panel presentations, etc.
Prepares recruiting reports and identifies recruiting trends, sources, etc. Analyzes results of recruiting strategies and employment turnover and reports trends to internal business partners.
Strategic & Leadership Contributions - 25%
Provides effective and frequent communication to all levels of management.
Guides managers in the hiring and selection process and acts as an ongoing resource and consultant to internal customers/hiring managers.
Demonstrates behaviors that position Equity as an Employer of Choice and the HR team as being brand ambassadors throughout the recruitment, hiring, and onboarding experiences.
Represents the Company in a professional manner at all times. Consistently maintains a professional image and demeanor when dealing with applicants, co-workers and the general public.
Performs other duties as assigned.
JOB QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
(2+ years) recruiting/hiring experience required; college degree strongly preferred; in-house recruitment experience preferred.
Experience in the real estate industry is not required, but recruiting experience in a similar industry (hospitality, retail, restaurant, sales) is ideal.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills and a professional image essential.
Strong customer service, problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills required.
Must possess exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills, as well as the ability to prioritize, manage multiple tasks simultaneously, and maintain a high degree of confidentiality.
Must be computer proficient and able to learn new software upgrades and enhancements.
Travel may be required.
Salary: $94,000 - $115,000 per year; in addition to base salary, a discretionary annual 13% bonus is provided.
The successful candidate's starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, and qualifications.
