Unit Director, Pediatric Cardiac ICU and Transitional Care Unit

Join the nurse management team at one of the nation's top children's hospitals. UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital seeks a dynamic Unit Director for our Pediatric Cardiac Transitional Care Unit (CTCU) and Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (PCICU). This role oversees all nursing and administrative operations for these specialized inpatient units, ensuring the highest standards of care for young patients.
The Unit Director is accountable for the overall administrative planning and coordination of staffing, fiscal, and material resources. In collaboration with the Director of Pediatric Critical Care Services, the Unit Director will develop and implement processes to ensure quality patient care practices. This role also serves as a model for nursing practice and utilizes nursing and leadership theories to guide practice and clinical quality, promoting collaborative decision-making and shared governance.
The Unit Director will represent nursing units on interdisciplinary committees, addressing patient satisfaction, quality improvement, workflow efficiencies, and clinical information systems. As a people leader, the Unit Director will mentor nurse leaders (Assistant Unit Directors) and approve leadership development plans.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.
