General Summary Program Director, Strategy & Planning We are seeking a Program Director, Strategy & Planning at Unum! This position will serve in a leadership role to support the functional area’s Senior Leadership Team and provide executive-level support to the SVP or EVP leader. This position will plan and manage key strategic activities and programs to align the functional culture to the business strategy, organize and recommend executive participation, lead projects and provide timely advice or key updates on critical programs or issues requiring the executive leader’s attention. This position is expected to lead, execute, and implement change and shares ownership with senior leadership for achieving goals and objectives for these projects.

Job Specifications Bachelor’s degree required Minimum of 5 years work experience required, ideally in business strategy, consulting, operations or communications Strong business acumen, with understanding of the Financial Services industry Exhibits strong leadership skills, including the ability to effectively partner, problem-solve and influence at the C-Suite level Exceptional critical thinking and analytical skills with an ability to make connections, synthesize information and develop action plans Strong project management skills with an execution and results orientation Outstanding written and verbal communications skills Demonstrated ability to proactively prioritize, adapt to change and execute in a fast-paced environment Proficiency to form solid business relationships at all levels, internally and externally Expert skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, etc.) Principal Duties And Responsibilities Understand the organization’s core business goals and establish processes to help drive and prioritize key projects to advance the talent strategy aligned to the business strategy, manage critical issues to ensure attention and focus of the executive team; ensures executive leader is fully prepared for upcoming commitments/events. Manage targeted projects or initiatives and coordinate and execute the agenda and strategy. Conduct research and create background material for the leadership team. Facilitate communication among various work streams, organizations and/or stakeholders. Consistently evaluate and manage project/program initiative results by monitoring progress towards meeting goals and achieving implementation/performance benchmarks, ensuring follow-through on the part of key players, and sustaining momentum needed to drive these initiatives Establish and manage strong working partnership with key business leaders, stakeholders, including internal and external partners, and Board of Directors; ensuring timely updates and objectives are being attained. Provides leadership, direction and integration of activities across multiple teams to ensure successful execution. Acts as a role model for project management and program management professionalism, critical thinking, and setting productivity pace. Promotes a financial focus and emphasizes business value metrics. Participate in meetings and regular updates to the executive leadership team regarding the progress, objectives, and key deliverables of the strategic projects/workstreams. Oversee development of executive communications, including presentations, speeches, blogs and other communications (e.g. Offsite Meetings and other business presentations) Represents the senior leadership team through experienced, knowledgeable and polished interaction leaving an elevated professional image with internal and external stakeholders Regularly travels with the executive leader to major campuses and offsite meetings May perform other duties as assigned Company Unum and Colonial Life are part of Unum Group, a Fortune 500 company and leading provider of employee benefits to companies worldwide. The base salary range for applicants for this position is listed below. Unless actual salary is indicated above in the job description, actual pay will be based on skill, geographical location and experience. $89,900.00-$169,900.00 Additionally, Unum offers a portfolio of benefits and rewards that are competitive and comprehensive including healthcare benefits (health, vision, dental), insurance benefits (short & long-term disability), performance-based incentive plans, paid time off, and a 401(k) retirement plan with an employer match up to 5% and an additional 4.5% contribution whether you contribute to the plan or not. All benefits are subject to the terms and conditions of individual Plans.
