Chief Compliance Officer
Valleywise Health, formerly known as Maricopa Integrated Health System, is a comprehensive public health care system deeply rooted in the Phoenix community, serving Maricopa County for over 140 years. Valleywise Health is the Phoenix area's only public teaching health system. Valleywise Health has achieved many firsts including the first medical residency program in Arizona, the state's first Level I Trauma Center, Arizona's first nationally verified burn center and the community's first HIV / AIDS clinic.
The Chief Compliance Officer (CCO) will be responsible for overseeing the health system's compliance, privacy, and ethics program. Reporting directly to the President & CEO and the Board of Directors, the CCO ensures compliance with all federal and state regulations while fostering a culture of integrity, transparency, and accountability. This leader will direct system-wide compliance strategy, oversee investigations and risk assessments, and provide regular reporting to senior leadership and the Board.
Beyond compliance mandates, the CCO will proactively identify and mitigate risk through continuous risk assessment and staff training. The role includes leadership and development of all direct reports, management of departmental operating and capital budgets, and ensuring that both staff activity and behaviors are fully aligned with Valleywise Health's mission, vision, valuesand operational goals.
The selected CCO will possess (not limited to) :
Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, business or related field required.
Certification in Healthcare Compliance (CHC or equivalent) required.
Juris Doctor (JD) or master's in healthcare administration (MHA), Public Health (MPH), or business administration (MBA), or related field strongly preferred.
10 years minimum of progressively responsible leadership experience in healthcare compliance, that may include healthcare legal experience.
Preference towards senior compliance leadership experience in Behavioral Health, Level 1 Trauma Centers, and / or Academic Medical Centers.
