Overview
Cardiologist - FT - Sioux Falls VA. This position is for a full-time non-invasive and non-interventional cardiologist. The Cardiologist will be responsible for consultative services and developing treatment plans for the management of Veterans in outpatient, inpatient, Community Living Center and emergency department settings. The incumbent will provide evaluations and treatment recommendations regarding patients with cardiovascular conditions. The role requires strong interpersonal skills to collaborate with clinicians and staff across the facility and Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs). Responsibilities
Interpretation of ECGs, Holter and event monitor recordings and transthoracic echocardiograms. Perform and interpret transesophageal echocardiograms. Perform treadmill, pharmacologic, nuclear and echocardiograph stress tests. Be available for all urgent assessments and consultations as part of the patient care team. Perform cardioversion procedures. Review pacemaker/AICD transmissions and adjust settings accordingly. Coordinate care at VA and non-VA referral centers for patients requiring cardiac services not provided in the facility. Utilize telemedicine modalities to enhance patient care. Requirements and Qualifications
U.S. Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine in a U.S. state or equivalent. Residency training meeting VA requirements in an accredited core specialty program leading to eligibility for board certification (ACGME or AOA or approved equivalent). Other residencies may be considered if reviewed and deemed appropriate by the Medical Staff Executive Committee. Proficiency in spoken and written English. Minimum 3 years experience in Cardiology. Preferred: Board Certified. Selected applicants will be subject to background/security investigation and pre-employment requirements; pre-employment physical and vaccination requirements may apply. Degree of Doctor of Medicine or equivalent from an LCME- or AOA-accredited school; for foreign graduates, ECFMG verification may be required. Licensure: Current, full and unrestricted medical license in a U.S. state, territory, or the District of Columbia. Work Schedule
Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm. Compensation and Benefits
