Overview
Stroke/vascular neurologist sought to join the Department of Neurology at Peconic Bay Medical Center (PBMC) in Riverhead, NY. BC/BE candidates with interest in a flexible schedule involving inpatient and ambulatory responsibilities as well as potential stroke hospitalist roles are invited to apply. This is part of the Northwell Health System’s expansion of neurological health services. The Department of Neurology has grown across regions to provide comprehensive, integrated health care and wellness services. The service line offers opportunities to collaborate with a large group of neurologists, engage in academic activities, teaching, grand rounds, conferences, and case discussions with subspecialty experts. Northwell Health’s Institute for Neurology includes three hospitals ranked in the top 50 in U.S. News & World Report, four comprehensive stroke programs, 11 primary stroke centers, and one thrombectomy-capable center. The Department, led by Dr. Souhel Najjar, combines Northwell Health resources with the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell to deliver state-of-the-art care, education, and research. Founded in 1951 as Central Suffolk Hospital, PBMC is the largest hospital in Eastern Suffolk County and serves as the Eastern Hub of Northwell Health. As a non-profit 144-bed community hospital, PBMC provides advanced healthcare services to the Riverhead area and Long Island’s North Fork, including the region’s only Interventional Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory Suite, a Level III Trauma Center, and NYUS-Designated Stroke Center. Long Island, New York, offers diverse communities and opportunities, with the North Shore, South Shore, North Fork wine and farm country, and the South Fork’s resort areas within reach of New York City. Responsibilities
• Provide clinical care as a BC/BE stroke/vascular neurologist in inpatient and ambulatory settings, with potential stroke hospitalist roles. • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team within Northwell Health and PBMC. • Participate in program growth and development of neurology services across PBMC and affiliated centers. • Engage in teaching, conferences, and case discussions as part of the Northwell academic environment. Qualifications
• Board-certified or board-eligible in neurology with subspecialty training or focus in stroke/vascular neurology. • Eligibility for medical licensure in New York. • Strong communication and collaborative skills; commitment to high-quality patient care and education.
