The
Deputy Project Leader (Telecommunications)
is a training position focused on supervising and directing project employees, developing strategic plans and budgets, and analyzing data to support project success. This role requires experience in technology systems integration, including passive and active communication infrastructure, with demonstrated leadership in design and construction teams. Responsibilities
Assist in leading teams providing Communications and Electronic Safety and Security infrastructure, including pathways, cabling, networking, wireless systems, CCTV, access control, A/V, and other technologies, ensuring design efficiency and compliance. Support the design and deployment of Information Transport and telecommunications systems. Manage daily operations of project segments. Identify and resolve change orders effectively. Price, track, and manage change orders. Monitor cash flow against expenses. Maintain as-builts during project execution. Document project issues and conditions. Plan and execute project completion and punch list tasks. Develop goals and plans to prioritize and organize work. Interpret blueprints and project specifications. Research and compile submittals, estimate changes, and complete project estimates. Coordinate with stakeholders to resolve work procedures and construction issues. Represent the company in communications with clients, government, and contractors. Ensure timely decision-making and documentation of communications. Qualifications
Education, Experience & Technical Skills: 5+ years in telecommunications integration or electrical contracting, preferably with a degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field. Experience managing telecommunication and electronic security projects valued between $500,000 and $10 million. Proficiency with contract documents, RFIs, submittals, and change management. Experience installing Information Transport Systems. Proficient in MS Office, project management software, CPM scheduling, and AutoCAD. Knowledge of technical design and blueprint production for electrical and security projects. Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to work in diverse environments and maintain reliable attendance at customer sites. Flexibility to work nights and weekends as needed. Up to 25% travel with reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license. Preferred Skills: Experience with Accubid Estimating or similar software. Proficiency with Primavera P6 CPM Scheduling. Willingness to travel to project sites. Abilities: Ability to work with extended computer use, sitting, reaching, and manual dexterity. Effective listening, speaking, reading, and problem-solving skills.
