Team Intro: The USDS Privacy and Integrated Security team is responsible for overseeing and governing all activities of privacy impacts to TikTok USDS' operations. We address complex and cutting-edge challenges, aiming to build the world's most trusted social media platform. We partner with TikTok global legal, R&D, Privacy and Data Protection Office, and security organizations in advancing our privacy practices. We oversee, govern and support the integration and optimization of operational privacy capabilities including data inventory, data classification, data retention/deletion, and incident response, etc., to ensure scalable and compliant privacy and data protection practices. Hybrid work: Our organization follows a hybrid work schedule that requires employees to work in the office 3 days a week, or as directed by their manager/department. The specific requirements may change at any time. Key Responsibilities: Conduct privacy compliance assessment, analyze operational gaps between the global privacy framework and USDS execution, and drive efforts to ensure privacy safeguards are effective and aligned with TikTok standards. Map existing privacy processes, workflows, and procedures, identify gaps or inefficiencies, and recommend improvements. Build cross-functional relationships to align operational practices with the TikTok privacy framework and effective implementation of privacy capabilities. Collaborate with risk management to conduct compliance risk analyses and provide actionable recommendations. Assist in drafting and implementing guidelines and SOPs for practical data retention and records management. Establish metrics/KPIs to track privacy safeguards and regularly report on performance and compliance. Drive continuous improvement and engage in special projects as the team expands. Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field, or relevant experience in security, privacy and process engineering. 2+ years in privacy compliance or privacy risk analysis. Strong understanding of privacy frameworks (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, COPPA) and how privacy operations support compliance. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and cross-team communication skills. Adaptability to navigate ambiguity in a large organization. Preferred Qualifications: Experience in privacy/security engineering or operations, experience operationalizing privacy and security solutions, experience with globally distributed teams, and experience on social media platforms. Compensation Description (Annually) - Washington, DC. The base salary range for this position in the selected city is 89,920 – 176,400 USD. Compensation may vary based on qualifications, skills, and location. Base pay is part of the Total Package and may include bonuses, incentives, and stock units. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) with company match, paid parental leave, disability coverage, life insurance, wellbeing benefits, holidays, sick days, and paid personal time. The Company reserves the right to modify benefits at any time.
