Overview
The Sr. Director, Media Strategy and Marketing Tech will direct the day-to-day strategic planning for Planet Fitness media initiatives. This role will develop media briefs through partnerships, build media strategies, and craft holistic stories to achieve business goals. It requires leading campaigns rooted in data and insights and partnering with internal and external teams to execute and uphold the media strategy and marketing technology success. This position is hybrid and based in Hampton, NH.
Responsibilities
Direct and oversee national media strategy from plan to execution, ensuring local nuances are incorporated and optimizing media mix, geography, reach, frequency, and flighting with first-to-market strategies.
Advise on local media strategy, collaborating with franchisee groups and agencies to complement national campaigns and meet holistic marketing goals.
Develop media briefs in partnership with Brand, Brand Strategy, Creative, Research/Analytics, and Content teams.
Maintain media strategy aligned with briefing parameters and enterprise needs as they evolve.
Direct utilization of Planet Fitness first-party data for media targeting and manage the tech stack used to share targeting IDs with agencies.
Craft holistic stories for detailed media recommendations aligned with future vetting and overall narrative.
Create a quarterly testing roadmap with hypotheses, learning goals, measurement plans, and reporting to improve the media plan over time.
Collaborate with Agencies & Analytics teams to measure, track, and report media performance, contributing to MMM and MTA.
Lead and build incremental funding business cases to improve national and local media impact.
Negotiate and manage vendor contracts and pricing; verify and approve nationally funded media with proper accounts payable documentation.
Stay informed on industry best practices and emerging distribution channels.
Provide leadership that inspires cross-functional teams and external partners to execute strong go-to-market and brand-building initiatives.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree required (Marketing, Communications, or related field); MBA a plus.
7-10+ years of related experience in the media space; 5+ years in digital, programmatic, and innovation.
5+ years of experience leading and mentoring a team.
Proven ability to set agency and media landscape direction and drive industry-changing thinking.
Strong leadership, relationship-building, and influential communication skills across all levels of an organization.
Extensive experience in media strategy, planning, and buying across multiple channels; deep knowledge of media best practices.
Experience coordinating a marketing plan across multiple franchisee stakeholders and addressing local needs.
Ability to translate and evaluate media analytics tools and technology for more effective media plans.
Strong negotiation and collaborative, strategic teamwork mindset with a data-driven approach.
Detail-oriented, organized, with the ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent presentation and communication skills at all organizational levels, including executives.
Creative, progressive thinking with the ability to influence at all levels.
