based out of Wethersfield, CT. Position Details
This is a full-time, 40 hour per week position on first shift. Schedule is Monday-Friday between 8:00am and 4:00pm. The position is based at our Central Office, located in Wethersfield, CT. Location: Wethersfield, CT Salary: $235,479 - $312,887/year Date Opened: 9/19/2025 Close Date: 12/18/2025 11:59:00 PM Responsibilities
Directs staff and operations relating to mental health care in an assigned region Coordinates, plans and manages daily delivery of mental health services programs to the offender, inmate and parole population Formulates and leads mental health services team in attainment of agency goals and objectives Assists with development and implementation of policies, goals, and objectives to ensure conformance with national standards and regulatory requirements Interprets and administers pertinent laws Provides ongoing performance feedback and evaluations and enforces progressive discipline when necessary Maintains contact with internal and external stakeholders impacting programs and services Assists in development of programs and activities including mental health service standards Implements new procedures and procedural revisions Determines appropriate mental health staffing levels and ensures compliance with collective bargaining and labor laws Monitors services activities for conformance with licensure and statutes Enforces mental health policies and coordinates with human resources for hiring, retention, training and promotion Ensures operations stay within budgetary guidelines for the region Coordinates offender admissions and transfers due to mental health necessity Assists in risk management and quality assurance activities related to care May provide expert testimony in court and participate on committees/boards Leads recruitment and hiring of staff and may provide mental health consultation Performs related duties as required Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Considerable knowledge of management principles and practices; relevant state and federal laws and agency policies Principles and techniques of mental health care with reference to diagnosis and treatment of offenders Interpersonal, oral and written communication, organizational and analytical skills Ability to teach and provide clinical supervision Minimum Qualifications General Experience:
Experience in a hospital, clinical setting or correctional facility as a board certified psychiatrist. Special Experience:
One (1) year of General Experience must have been in a supervisory capacity or as a leader of programs and processes. Special Requirements: Unrestricted license to practice medicine and surgery in Connecticut Certification as a specialist in psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology May be required to participate in federal health care programs and/or possess additional certifications (geriatrics, ABI/TBI, forensics, substance abuse, etc.) Appropriate current licenses, certifications or permits; bilingual ability may be required; travel may be required Valid Motor Vehicle Operator’s license About Us & Mission
