Overview
Supply Chain Manager, Closures & Sealing Systems at Tesla. The role supports development teams in sourcing Direct Supply Chain components and parts for vehicle platforms (Model S, Model X, Model 3, Cybertruck, Model Y) and/or Energy product lines, to ensure successful operation of the organization. Reports to the Supply Chain Group Manager and serves as an active sourcing resource supporting various Engineering groups within Tesla. What You'll Do
Own and manage RFQs and strategic sourcing for new programs; lead timely development of programs; ensure all commercial terms, capacity, contracts, agreements, and industrialization timelines are agreed, met and documented. Drive piece price and tooling negotiations to meet Tesla’s pricing, process, and quality expectations while pursuing continual cost reduction and cost avoidance initiatives. Address all areas of category management including category business plans, market conditions, technology roadmaps, cost modeling and sourcing strategies. Monitor global industry trends, track technology roadmaps, analyze spend, and partner with Design teams to identify and mitigate supply and demand challenges. Identify areas for process improvements and cost reductions; proactively develop strategies benefiting the entire supply chain organization. Manage supplier relationships and performance, including dispute resolution, supplier financial health, and periodic business reviews. Lead cross-functional teams to manage project timelines; develop and maintain action trackers, Gantt charts and other program management tools to track on-time delivery of parts. Communicate key supply, cost, and quality issues with management and develop corrective action plans to mitigate identified risks. What You'll Bring
Degree in Mechanical, Industrial or Production Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations Management, or equivalent experience; evidence of exceptional ability in these areas. Minimum 3 years of industry experience in supply chain, strategic sourcing, product development, supplier quality, operations/production management or engineering design. Hands-on experience with manufacturing processes such as injection molding, CNC machining, die-casting, extrusion, forging and stamping. Ability to analyze large data sets, identify patterns, and draw logical conclusions. Strong attention to detail with the ability to present data in a clean, organized, and professional format. Experience with mechanical engineering concepts related to the commodity and ability to generate bottom-up should-cost models based on manufacturing processes. Ability to understand technical drawings and specifications; knowledge of manufacturing processes, process controls, and quality assurance; strong negotiation, presentation, analytical, communication and interpersonal skills.
