Required Qualifications
A Ph.D. earned in Biomedical Engineering, or a closely related engineering discipline with Ph.D. degree conferral no later than April 15, 2022. Applicants must demonstrate a strong commitment to:
teaching and working with a diverse population of undergraduate and graduate students
curricular innovation to complement and further advance the BME program
laboratory development that enhances the quality of education and research
development of externally funded research programs and laboratory capabilities
Preferred Qualifications
Research expertise in biomedical electronics, bioinstrumentation, bioimaging, biomechanics, biomaterials, biomedical device design and/or manufacturing, or other closely related areas
Research focus on health equity with interests in addressing health outcomes disparities, including strategies to enhance public health and social welfare systems, and developing alternative and less invasive therapies
Extensive industry and/or academic research experience relevant to biomedical engineering
Responsibilities
Faculty are expected to have expertise in the subject matter of the classes or labs they teach.
Developing all necessary course materials; delivering synchronous (online and in-person) and/or asynchronous (online) lectures; grading course work; enforcing academic policies; coordinating teaching assistants; posting final grades; contributing to assessment and improvement of teaching effectiveness.
Maintain an active research lab providing opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students.
Participation in shared governance and service, including academic advising and committee work.
Demonstrate awareness of and sensitivity to the needs of a diverse student population through inclusive materials, teaching strategies, and advisement.
