Overview
Project Engineer (Engineer II) with King County’s Solid Waste Division within the Department of Natural Resources and Parks. The Facilities Engineering and Science Section (FESS) is expanding its materials management program and resource recovery efforts. The role focuses on implementing civil, electrical, and mechanical repair and replacement projects identified in the Solid Waste Division’s Capital Asset Maintenance Program (CAMP). It also provides general engineering services to support eight Recycling and Transfer Stations (RTS) and two drop box locations. The position may involve remote and on-site work. What You Will Be Doing
Review contract plans and provisions; oversee consultants, vendors, and contractors; monitor work progress and take corrective action for non-compliance with contract requirements. Plan and conduct construction, maintenance, and compliance inspections; ensure contractors comply with procedures. Manage construction contracts and consultant work orders to ensure compliance with engineering plans, technical specifications, and King County policies and regulatory requirements. Develop, implement, or administer project scope of work, schedule, and budget. Develop, implement, or administer contract requirements and the execution of designs for the design, procurement, and construction phases of assigned projects. Conduct annual facility inspections with Operations to prioritize projects based on risk assessments and to identify preventive maintenance requirements; assist in implementing the SWD asset management program. Contribute to effective project communication and coordination with Operations and other stakeholders. About The Team

Bachelor of Science in engineering or the equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience reviewing mechanical, architectural, structural, electrical, and civil designs. Experience coordinating work with consultants, vendors, and contractors; project and/or construction management experience. Experience monitoring construction and compliance inspections and reviewing contract plans and specifications. Experience in managing construction and consultant contracts; ability to develop scope of work, schedule, and budget for procurement of consultant and construction contracts. Experience in asset management and conducting facility condition assessments including risk assessments. Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical audiences; knowledge of contract administration techniques and principles; ability to work with diverse individuals and customers. Nice to Have
Three or more years of experience in analyzing, reviewing, and designing various civil, structural, mechanical engineering elements independently or with minimal oversight. Familiarity with CAD, REVIT, ACC, or BIM. Project management experience with documents such as project management plans, risk registers, and communications plans. Competencies

Hybrid work schedule with onsite and remote work; onsite at least 2 or more days per week depending on business needs. Must reside in Washington State and be within a reasonable distance of King County worksites. Full-time, 40-hour week; FLSA overtime eligible.
