On behalf of our client, The American Diabetes Association, we are searching for candidates for the role of Executive Director in Northwest Arkansas. The American Diabetes Association (ADA) is a leader in the fight to end diabetes. Our mission is to prevent and cure diabetes and improve the lives of all people affected by diabetes. We provide lifesaving education and resources backed by trusted experts to help people learn how to make life with diabetes easier until the day diabetes is gone for good. Through research, the ADA searches relentlessly for a cure and supports the professionals who provide direct care. Our team is on the ground fighting for those with diabetes who suffer discrimination, health inequity, high health care costs and so much more. Job Summary
The Executive Director serves as the leader providing overall management, planning, execution and leadership for all aspects of the organization. This includes effective programs/services, a diversified revenue and fundraising portfolio, donor stewardship, board/staff development, and finance and budget management. The Executive Director is responsible for positioning the Association as a leader in diabetes prevention and management in his/her respective community as well as establishing effective partnerships and collaborations with corporations, foundations, community/corporate leaders, government officials, other community organizations/nonprofits and supporters. This is a remote, work from home opportunity, but the individual must live in Northwest Arkansas in order to attend in-person meetings and events.
Responsibilities
Provide strategic leadership, creating and executing fundraising strategies to reach position specific annual fundraising goals from corporations; works to grow additional sources of revenue. Establish and support an effective Community Leadership Board (CLB) to achieve organizational goals and objectives; enable and support volunteer leadership recruitment, stewardship and engagement; create a shared vision and accountability; support the development of a high-performing CLB and partner to drive revenue growth; maintain communication with the CLB and provide staff support for CLB committees. Demonstrate leadership and effective management: model association leadership competencies, align staff resources, develop annual performance expectations, communicate effectively, promote accountability, remove barriers, support creativity and action, and ensure alignment with regional and national strategies. Increase area revenue: develop strategies to achieve and exceed revenue targets, manage a portfolio of high priority prospects, optimize special events fundraising, build diversified revenue streams, and steward foundations and grants. Position the Association as a leader in diabetes prevention and management: understand community priorities, form alliances with partners, participate in strategic task forces, advocate with government officials, and build relationships with media. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and 8-10 years of non-profit management Established success in fundraising and non-profit leadership Proven record of success in management and revenue growth Knowledge of product marketing/sales concepts Outcome-driven with ability to respond to changing circumstances and priorities Ability to manage and motivate groups and individuals Excellent oral and written communication, presentation, interpersonal skills Strong market, community and constituent perspective Proficient in computer-based information systems Ability to work some nights and weekends Must reside in Northwest Arkansas (Bentonville, Fayetteville, Rogers, for example) Why Work Here
