Who We Need Arootah is searching for experienced Directors of Business Development, Directors of Capital Raising and Directors of Fundraising to consult to our highly prestigious client base. As a consultant, you will work with our Hedge Fund and Family Office clients to provide expert advice. Having previously served in a senior role as a Director of Business Development or Director of Capital Raising, you have specific, hands-on experiencing strategically executing a successful capital raising program, including identifying, sourcing, managing, overseeing, and onboarding of prospective clients for a leading Hedge Fund or Family Office. Whether it was a new manager looking to raise assets for the first time or an existing manager looking to diversify their existing investor base, you have the expertise to help our clients define their marketing message and enhance their overall business development efforts.

Hours are based on the needs of the assigned client (0-40 hours per week).

What You'll Do

Provide advice and guidance to Arootah clients who seek help with their Capital Raising needs, consulting to leading Hedge Funds and Family Offices.

Develop realistic and effective monthly action plans; identify internal and contextual roadblocks; break goals into actionable steps; devise a plan of action for each goal.

Provide clients with resources for implementing action plans; implement policies, procedures, and control measures.

Review, analyze and report on client tools and resources to ensure industry best practices; evaluate client progress toward goals using KPIs and scoring matrices.

Maintain and share detailed records of consulting results.

All aspects of capital raising: develop marketing decks and collateral, sourcing leads, and coordinating with Prime Broker Capital Introduction Teams or other sales organizations.

Develop prospect lists, execute client-by-client engagement strategies, and maximize team resources to meet fundraising objectives.

Practice presentations, Q&A sessions, mock interviews, and due diligence preparation; craft the sales narrative and marketing plan to attract and retain clients and investors.

Supervise fundraising staff, and train/mentor junior staff to become effective marketers.

Collaborate with internal groups to ensure regulatory requirements are satisfied and RFP/DDQ responses are accurate; organize data on prospective investors to move leads through the sales funnel.

Advise on terms, structure, vendor selection and other key business drivers to attract institutional, high net worth, and seed capital investors.

Assist in cultivating relationships and awareness across diverse sources of capital and distribution channels.

Review potential financing, seeding, joint venture, and revenue-sharing arrangements to ensure best practices; identify markets and coordinate outreach campaigns.

Qualifications

Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Marketing, Sales, Finance, or Business Administration, or related field.

MBA, CFA, CAIA or advanced degree is a plus. Sales or financial industry designations (e.g., Series 7 or Series 63) are a plus.

At least ten years of professional experience in a similar Business Development or Capital Raising role with demonstrated success in raising assets for Hedge Funds, Alternative Investment Firms, or Family Offices.

Proven success in raising assets in partnership with Institutional Sales Teams; experience with sophisticated institutional clients and developing new opportunities.

Knowledge of multi-asset sectors and investment types (public equity long/short, private equity, fixed income, absolute return strategies).

Strong analytical, quantitative, written and verbal skills; confident client presentation abilities with follow-through.

Strong teamwork orientation with entrepreneurial mindset and interpersonal skills to interact across senior levels.

Compensation The hourly consulting rate is $250 to $500 per hour, determined by engagement length, difficulty, required specialization, and experience.

Remote work is available; the organization offers flexible assignments and an expansion-stage environment.
