As a Senior Software Engineer in Ground Segment at Capella Space, you will play a crucial role in designing, implementing, and maintaining high-availability distributed systems for our satellite constellation. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to develop technical solutions that enable efficient management and operation of our satellite network. Responsibilities

Design and develop distributed systems to support satellite operations. Collaborate with teams to define system requirements and architecture. Implement software solutions to enable efficient data processing and transmission. Optimize system performance, reliability, and operability. Troubleshoot and debug complex distributed systems. Participate in on-call rotation and lead complex incident investigations. Ensure software meets quality and security standards. Contribute to the development of best practices and coding and design standards. Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry trends. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to less experienced engineers. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality technical solutions. Comply with ITAR and related export regulations; Capella employees must be U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, or have eligible authorization as applicable. Qualifications

Bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field. 8+ years of experience in software development with a focus on distributed systems. Proficiency in Python, Rust, Java, or C++. Strong understanding of networking protocols and distributed computing concepts. Experience with cloud-based distributed systems and microservices (e.g., AWS Lambda, S3, EKS, SQS). Familiarity with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes). Knowledge of data storage and processing technologies (SQL, MongoDB, InfluxDB, Kafka). Experience with logging and monitoring systems (Elasticsearch, Grafana). Experience with version control (Git). Experience with CI/CD (GitLab) and deployment/configuration tools (Ansible). Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills. Nice-To-Haves

Experience in an Agile environment. Willingness to collaborate on design sessions, pair programming, and documentation. Desire to work in person at Capella offices in Louisville, CO or San Francisco, CA. Familiarity with Ground Station as a Service providers (KSAT, AWS Ground, Atlas). Compensation

The annual salary range for this role is $133,411 $160,454. Final level and salary determined based on education, qualifications, knowledge, skills, experience, location, and market data. Benefits listed may vary by employment type. Benefits
