Overview
Cresset is seeking a skilled
Data Strategy Enablement Specialist
to join our dynamic Data Governance and Reporting team. In this role, you will help drive the firm’s early and ongoing data governance initiatives, building a high-quality, business-friendly data catalog and stewardship model that supports trustworthy, transparent, and value-driven data use. This includes ensuring that data assets supporting AI and LLM models are high quality and fit for purpose. Your work will lay the groundwork for scalable governance practices that enable confident decision-making, regulatory readiness, and a shared understanding of data. You will partner closely with business users, analysts, and engineers to define business terms, build lineage, tag datasets, and improve metadata visibility across the firm. The ideal candidate will be a collaborative problem-solver who optimizes workflows with technology, drives results with focus and resilience, and keeps the team engaged and motivated through periods of change. They will build strong relationships and influence others by actively listening, communicating effectively, and using data-driven insights to make sound, timely decisions without overanalyzing. The position will be based out of a Cresset office location and will participate in Cresset’s hybrid in-office flexibility model. Responsibilities
Collaborate with the Head of Data Governance to shape and operationalize the firm’s governance framework and Ownership and Stewardship model Serve as the connective link between business stakeholders and data engineering teams, managing intake, prioritization, and translation of data needs into actionable work Help drive clarity on data use cases, scope, and success criteria Implement metadata tagging, business glossary development, and lineage mapping using tools like Databricks, Snowflake, dbt, and commercial data cataloging tools Coordinate and partner with data stewards and domain owners to define, validate, and maintain clear business definitions for key data elements Document and visualize data flows across systems and teams to improve traceability, understanding, and data quality Identify and execute "early win" data improvements in data clarity, usability, and stewardship, especially where they support priority business use cases Collaborate on the design and incremental implementation and support of a data Change Management process Support the rollout of the data catalog and contribute to training, documentation, and data literacy efforts Monitor catalog usage and metadata completeness to help track adoption and identify gaps Qualifications
6-10 years of experience in data governance, data analytics, business intelligence, and/or metadata management At least 3-5 years working at a Wealth Management firm is a must Proficiency in SQL and familiarity with modern data stacks, including data warehouses (e.g., Snowflake) and transformation tools (e.g., dbt) Experience with data cataloging and metadata platforms such as Atlan, Alation, or Collibra Strong attention to detail, and enthusiasm about how data flows through systems and supports real-world decisions Excellent collaboration and communication skills; able to work effectively across business and technical teams Strong documentation skills and an organized approach to working with complex, interconnected systems Additional Beneficial Skills
Technical skills in Python, SQL, and/or other analytics software tools Experience contributing to governance councils, data stewardship communities, or data quality initiatives Knowledge of data lineage, data quality, and stewardship best practices Comfortable presenting technical data-related topics and findings to non-technical audiences What We Offer

Salary will be based on factors including, but not limited to, experience, licenses/certifications, industry knowledge, and geographic location.
