Executive Director, Global Facilities Operations
This pivotal role within Global Technical Services (GTS) at Bristol Myers Squibb provides strategic leadership for the Global Facilities Operations (GFO) Team overseeing a diverse portfolio of R&D, Product Development, Corporate Headquarters and Commercial offices sites in North America, United Kingdom, Belgium and Switzerland. The successful candidate will lead a highly motivated GFO Leadership Team focused on delivering safe, effective and strategically aligned Facilities Services tailored to meet key stakeholder needs. The role emphasizes continuous performance optimization, technology adoption, and exceptional user experience delivery. The leader will manage a $700M+ OpEx P&L and develop a long-term CapEx strategic plan based on asset life cycle management. The role also develops, delivers and governs the global Integrated Facilities Management (IFM) service delivery model globally and collaborates with peers to drive enterprise-wide solutions. Strategic development of Facilities Services for 22 locations in North America, United Kingdom, and Europe. Build a vision for organization culture through amenities provided and services delivered to site occupants; support growth strategies for R&ED, GDD, PD, GPDO, GPS and enabling functions. Collaborate with Global CSS and Corporate Real Estate/Workplace Services on determining future space requirements and master planning; identify innovative solutions to optimize square footage and support divestitures or new business development. Champion the use of digital tools to elevate operational excellence; implement sustainability programs with Corporate EHSS to support company goals. Develop internal and external capabilities to drive efficient performance and elevate GFO value; refine the GFO KPI Dashboard to reflect priorities. Collaborate with site leadership to strengthen relations with local authorities; ensure strategic integration and communications with local communities. Develop site-level Capital Strategic Plans in coordination with Global CSS and site stakeholders; prioritize master planning initiatives. Co-create short- and long-term IFM strategies with SS&P, Operations, Legal and Finance to enable success of the IFM model globally; ensure execution across service categories. Develop and implement global IFM strategies to fulfill service requirements across sizes and complexities. Foster collaboration with IFM Service Providers across GTS sites and non-GTS facilities; oversee a broad range of services from soft services to Laboratory Services. General & Leadership
Lead with a global mindset to deliver safe, effective Facilities and EHS services that support patient care. Model a culture of respect, collaboration, accountability, integrity, and continuous improvement. Partner with stakeholders to improve customer service and adopt industry-best practices. Influence enterprise decisions through management of amenities, OpEx/CapEx and collaboration with People and Business Resource Groups. Work hands-on in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment; collaborate with the Executive Director Global Capital Project Engineering on capital investments. Drive clear, timely communications with site leadership and BMS leadership; ensure stakeholders are informed of FM activities. Own the GFO $700M+ OpEx budget and manage within +/- 5% in coordination with the GTS Leadership Team. Ensure facilities meet regulatory, environmental, health and safety, and security standards; collaborate on sustainability programs including water and energy savings and carbon neutrality by 2040. Support broader commitments to reach net-zero GHG emissions by 2050; promote safe practices and adherence to Corporate EHSS standards. Qualifications & Experience
Minimum bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or related field; MBA preferred. 15+ years of related experience in pharmaceutical engineering and/or facilities operations; 10+ years in management. Enterprise mindset to develop and implement Facilities Management policies and programs. Experience with budget forecasting and OpEx planning; knowledge of maintenance and operations financial systems. Strong experience in facilities technologies and infrastructure (HVAC, process, automation, etc.). Knowledge of OSHA, NFPA, EPA regulations; GMP and FDA regulatory knowledge preferred. Ability to manage a diverse workforce, including outsourced/indirect workers in a matrixed organization. Experience implementing integrated Facilities Management service delivery models and performance incentives. Strong communication, organizational, and project management skills; RCA understanding and continuous improvement culture. Knowledge of FM applications and systems (BAS, CMMS, CAFM) and enterprise systems (SAP, Ariba). Ability to interface with regulatory authorities; primary location is Central New Jersey; flexibility for other major BMS sites (Cambridge, San Francisco, San Diego, Europe). Working Conditions
Up to 30% travel domestically and internationally for site visits, leadership meetings and strategic activities.
