The San Diego LGBT Community Center The Center provides targeted programs and services to the full diversity of the San Diego LGBTQ community. The Center’s mission is to enhance and sustain the health and well-being of LGBTQ+ communities in the region. The Center is sex-positive and focuses on equity, social justice, and client-centered, trauma-informed care. The organization currently has over 100 staff across 11 facilities in San Diego County. Responsibilities
Design, oversee, and support the implementation of program groups, activities, and events; collaborate to develop program goals and ensure best outcomes and program quality. Plan and manage large Project TRANS events (e.g., Transgender Day of Remembrance, Transgender Day of Visibility, Transgender Day of Empowerment, flag raisings/lowerings). Work with Project TRANS volunteer facilitators, provide guidance, regular check-ins, and troubleshoot issues. Identify organizations and secure partnerships for collaborations and referrals; develop and maintain collaborative relationships with partnering agencies and stakeholders, securing MOUs when appropriate. Coordinate with Civic Engagement to address policies, bills, and laws affecting transgender and nonbinary inclusion. Collaborate across Center departments to ensure trans-inclusive and accessible services; champion trauma-informed, collaborative service delivery. Partner with Communications to update marketing language and highlight awareness months, weeks, and related activities. Work with the Volunteer Manager to increase visibility of transgender, nonbinary, and gender expansive Center initiatives. Collaborate with the Training Institute to create educational opportunities to reduce transphobia and homophobia (as needed). Consult with community leaders to improve cultural sensitivity and practices for transgender and nonbinary communities. Co-facilitate the Project TRANS Advisory Committee and develop action plans based on community input. Team Development and Oversight
Provide direct supervision and support to Project TRANS staff. Collaborate with People & Culture to hire Project TRANS staff; participate in interviews and hiring decisions. Provide staff development, mentoring, onboarding, and performance support. Develop work plans in collaboration with the program team; equip staff with necessary skills and tools. Program Administration
Track and analyze program outcomes and guide activities to meet contract requirements. Track program expenditures and ensure proper documentation and reporting; ensure HIPAA-compliant documentation. Collaborate with Quality Assurance to identify trends, gaps, and opportunities for improvement. Required Qualifications
Education and/or Experience: 2-4 years of management experience with staff supervision. Minimum of 4 years of direct social services or social justice/organizing experience, preferably serving the transgender and nonbinary community. Experience navigating the San Diego trans and nonbinary community and LGBTQ+ organizations. Other Skills: Ability to work with diverse populations, manage multiple tasks with shifting priorities, and work in various team settings. Strong judgment and decision-making skills, ability to work evenings/weekends, and local travel as needed. Lived experience from under-served communities preferred. Experience in event/program management and grant support is a plus. Technical Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel); comfortable in PC/Windows environments. Experience with electronic health records is preferred. Language Skills: Fluency in English. Preferred Qualifications
3 years of professional/lived experience in program development/management in the trans and nonbinary community. Bilingual in English/Spanish. Compensation & Benefits
Pay range: $27.00 - $30.00/hour; full-time, regular non-exempt position. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, retirement plan with employer match, paid leave, training, and opportunities for advancement.
