Chief Marketing Officer (LA-based tech startup, equity-only role)
We are looking for a talented Chief Marketing Officer to join our startup in an equity-only role. Our ideal candidate has a successful track record as the CMO at a prior DTC or consumer products startup, with proven ability to drive revenue. Our company is live “in revenue” in Los Angeles and moving towards nationwide launch.
Responsibilities Scale revenue from $5k / mo to $50k / mo in Los Angeles, then from $50k / mo to $500k / mo, effectively building the playbook to scale to the next 200 major US markets. Lead regionalized startup launches including events, street teams, paid, earned, and organic digital media. Craft high-converting creatives and campaigns, and analyze analytics to tell the story of what is resonating. Provide the methodology and best practices to the team, acting as both thought-leader and executor of marketing strategy and growth. Collaborate with an in-house design team and social media experts, and direct available resources for ad buys as needed.
Develop and drive revenue-focused marketing initiatives, including business development and strategic brand partnerships.
Remote role with occasional in-person team meetings; must be LA-based.
Qualifications
1+ successful startup launches as the leader of marketing
10+ years experience in marketing / marketing leadership
Is a thought-leader and also executor of marketing strategy and growth
Revenue and growth focused (not just brand marketing)
Self-starter with ability to define methodology and best practices
Digital marketing expertise is a must; print or non-digital marketing expertise a plus
Non-digital experience (mailers, street teams, events, and other scrappy city launch blueprints) is a bonus
Business development and strategic brand partnerships experience

We have years of R&D completed, a team of over 10 experienced members, and we are quickly approaching a big acceleration point. This is an equity-only role at this juncture with the potential to develop into a more traditional role in the future. Remote role with occasional in-person meetings in Los Angeles.
